Celebrating 5 Years of the Clear Creeks Project!
|
The Gunpowder Valley Conservancy's
Clear Creeks Project began in 2013,at the edge of the water,in the creeks of Middle River and the Tidal Gunpowder, where residents witnessed deteriorating water conditions. Community residents remembered being able to wade six feet into the water and clearly view their toes, and
expressed hope of restoring water quality for future generations. Communities voiced their opinions and GVC listened.
- 256 Rain Barrels distributed
- 46 Bayscape gardens and buffers installed
- 42 Rain Gardens installed
- 16 microbioretention practices installed
- 145 free workshops and events offered
- 2,112 trees planted
- 46,507 pounds of trash removed from 29 adopted streams
And we're still growing! Thanks to grant funding, we are now able to offer our
