Stability and Change in Youth Labor Market Participation

Over the past sixteen years, Ottawa's youth labor market has shown remarkable stability, even during economic downturns like the COVID-19 crisis.

This resilience highlights both strengths and underlying challenges. While there was a slight long-term decline in participation rates, recent years have seen a recovery, indicating an improving economic landscape for youth.

To sustain this stability, it's vital to focus on policies that support youth workforce engagement, such as market-aligned educational programs and initiatives providing work experience. These measures ensure that young people are not only entering the workforce but are prepared to thrive.

For detailed insights and data on the evolution of the youth labor market, the full report offers an in-depth analysis.
