Wishing to change a beloved 14 karat yellow gold, Emerald and Diamond pendant, received from ‘someone special', this Diamonds On The Key client inquired how to refresh & ‘makeover’ the piece, while maintaining the integrity of the design. An easy switch to transform the pendant into a ring was suggested and confirmed.
The bale of the pendant was removed, with the vertical orientation of the design remaining intact. A thin, 14 karat yellow gold shank was provided and laser soldered to the pendant, easily transitioning it from pendant to new ring! The ‘special someone’ was so excited about this transformation and both loved the new design.

This new client had broken the worn out, thin shank of her original engagement ring several years ago and was very concerned about finding and trusting a new jeweler to do the repair. In this first time collaboration with trusted jeweler, Diamonds On The Key, the idea of not just a repair to the old ring, but a full makeover to update and modernize her ring, was discussed and reviewed with various options presented. After 2 kids and 20 years of marriage, the client decided a complete new makeover was long overdue and proceeded! A new, classic 3 stone setting was custom cast to fit her center diamond of 2 carats and two matching half carat diamonds were procured, to create the new timeless design.
Having a sentimental attachment to the original engagement ring, the old mounting was cut, bent, steam cleaned, polished, with posts and backings added, to transformed the mounting into a into a pair of beautiful everyday earrings! Final new rhodium finish restored the original bright white luster.
The client's original wedding band also received restoration with steam cleaning, polishing and bright white rhodium plating, to match the new color and finish of the engagement ring. The original curved design of the band was maintained and it fit beautifully next to the new engagement ring! The client is now loving all 3 of her refreshed pieces of jewelry and so thrilled to have made the leap of faith and commit to the makeover process!

At a recent trunk show event, this new client met Diamonds On The Key owner, Christina Termine, and present her with an outdated yellow gold Pear Shape Diamond Pendant plus a single diamond stud, whose other half had gone missing long ago. Not sure what to do with the pieces, Christina and the client brainstormed to design this mixed cut diamond pendant! A custom bezel set style mounting was designed and cast in 14 karat white gold for the pear shape and round diamonds, with a singular small diamond supplied to balance the layout. A sturdy adjustable length chain was supplied and laser soldered to the pendant. The client is now enjoying her new sparkling diamond necklace! |
