A Day with Heroes - Giving Back at Hope for Firefighters!
In June, Downtown Los Angeles came alive for the 27th annual Hope for Firefighters event! This celebration offered Angelenos a unique chance to meet our city's bravest heroes, eat delicious food, join in thrilling competitions, and make an impact on the community. Our members proudly supported this heartwarming fundraiser, benefiting the Los Angeles Firemen’s Relief Association’s Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemen’s Fund. It was a day filled with joy, camaraderie, and a deep sense of gratitude for our fearless firefighters!

Why did you join BOMA/GLA?
To further immerse myself in the industry I want to build my career in and to take advantage of the ample resources and networking opportunities made available through BOMA.
What’s your favorite part of being a BOMA/GLA member?
My favorite part of BOMA is the networking opportunities and the informative sessions offered.
What career advice do you live by?
Always walk into a room with an open mind and take every opportunity to engage with someone to learn about who they are.
What's a personal or professional project are you working on right now?
I’m working on purchasing my first family home. Additionally, my sister and I have been raising money for our non-profit, SKNMUSE Therapy Fund, run by Dr. Uche, a licensed therapist in Philadelphia. Through our efforts, we sponsor therapy sessions for underrepresented kids. So far, we’ve helped over 100 children. These are projects near and dear to my heart, and I intend to nurture them to outlive my capacity.

From Networking to Success: Shane Caswell's Impactful Journey with BOMA/GLA
"BOMA/GLA is a terrific organization of property management professionals. We are honored to be a part of this organization and look forward to supporting BOMA/GLA members at upcoming events.
CERTIFIED Recycling • Waste Solutions currently provides consulting and management of waste services for many properties of BOMA/GLA members. We can assist many BOMA members by providing a thorough review of the property waste streams, developing an education program for the property to meet diversion requirements mandated by the state, and evaluating current service levels and billing.
The BOMA/GLA events we have participated in thus far have been excellent, such as the Reverse Trade Show and the 2024 Spring Golf Tournament.
The BOMA/GLA staff has provided solid support in onboarding us as a new member, and we look forward to participating in both events and committees in the coming months."

Voters Denied Opportunity to Vote on TPA in November
In a deeply disappointing decision, the California Supreme Court removed the Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act (TPA) from the November ballot. The decision raises the stakes for the Newcastle lawsuit against Measure ULA as our options for invalidating LA’s transfer tax narrows.
The court ruled that TPA would cause too extensive a change in how the government works and so amounted to a “constitutional revision” rather than an amendment. And so, voters could not be the ones to place the measure on the ballot.
Many members invested a great deal of energy and resources in support of this measure, so it is especially disappointing to see the court deny voters the opportunity to have a voice with this measure.
