July 4th at Bayley Beach
Looking forward to a great July 4th in Rowayton.
There are no fireworks, but it will be a beautiful day and we have bands starting at 4:30. Here is some information and suggestions.
Lottery - although there are no Fireworks we are expecting a big crowd to enjoy the day, watch the music, and celebrate the United States of America. We will conduct a lottery for the picnic tables on Sunday at 11:00 AM. Get there by 10:45 to make sure you get your name in the mix if you want a table. The picnic tables on the Beach and pavillion will be numbered and placed on a map. Names of the hopeful will be written on a piece of paper and placed in something that can be drawn from. Names will be drawn and "winners'" will be written on the tables of their choosing. When the tables are all allotted, the lottery is over. In prior years, there were plenty of tables for all interested. YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN- NO EXCEPTIONS.
Parking Lot - we will have gate guards assisting in parking starting at 3:00 to make the best of the limited space. If you arrive at the beach early in the day, please keep in mind the parking lines and park as best you can. If the parking goes askew during the day, it makes it more difficult to make the best use of the space. The non-resident fee $50.
Park at School - if you the lot gets filled, you can park at Rowayton Elementary school and walk the short 1/2 mile. Most of the roads leading to the beach will have No Parking to allow emergency vehicles to pass. We are looking into getting a Shuttle bus for future shows.
Walk to the Beach - If you can, please try to walk or ride a bike to the beach. At the end of the evening there is typically a log jam trying to get out of the lot.
Cans if you can - If possible, please bring cans instead of bottles. Cans can't break on the concrete paths, bottles often do and the glass gets in the sand.
