EVENT TRAFFIC ADVISORY– OAKTON BRIDGE CLOSURE
Getting to Skokie's Fireworks Festival
Those driving to Skokie’s Fireworks Festival are strongly encouraged to allow for extra travel time due to ongoing IDOT construction and lane closures on the Oakton Street Bridge over the Edens Expressway.
- Austin Avenue south of Oakton Street will be open to southbound traffic only from approximately 3-11 p.m.
Leaving Skokie's Fireworks Festival
The Oakton Street Bridge over the Edens Expressway will be closed to all vehicle traffic and open to pedestrians only from approximately 9:15 p.m. to 11 p.m. Traffic detours will be implemented.
- Those leaving the fireworks festival by vehicle from the west side of Nils West High School and intending to go east on Oakton Street will be detoured on westbound Oakton Street to southbound Austin Avenue to eastbound Howard Street to northbound Gross Point Road to eastbound Oakton Street.
Police Officers will be at all major intersections to direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
