FOURTH SUNDAY FOOD DRIVE

We will collect non-perishable items for our neighbors through Tempe Community Action Agency this Sunday, June 24. Current needs include:

Ziplock bags (gallon size)
high protein items (canned meats, peanut butter, tuna, low sugar protein bars)
canned fruit
ready to eat items that do not require refrigeration, utensils, or cooking
dried/canned beans
canned and boxed soups
boxed meals
dried fruit
100% juice
canned vegetables
oatmeal
rice
granola bars
pasta
mac and cheese
multigrain crackers

Donations may be left on the benches at the front gate to be collected and delivered to TCAA following Sunday's services. If you're unable to bring food to donate, but would still like to contribute, click here.

BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS

Blessing of the Backpacks is this Sunday, July 24. Children are encouraged to bring their backpacks to church and during the children's time we will share a blessing over these backpacks and the children as they begin a new school year.

SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE

Dayspring Children's Ministry is organizing a school supply donation drive to benefit Frank Elementary School in Guadalupe. Please send school supplies to Sunday school with your children on July 24 and 31 or donate in the boxes in the narthex. Items especially needed include composition notebooks, spiral notebooks (70 page), pencils, glue sticks, glue bottles, and markers. Thank you!

PRIDE THEOPUB

Dayspring PRIDE hosts another TheoPub on August 1 at 6:00pm at Postino’s (8749 S. Rural, Tempe). Join us for a night of great conversation! Please email David to RSVP or for more details.

EARLY VOTING

We are hosting an early voting site and ballot drop-off in our Fellowship Hall Mondays through Saturdays, starting tomorrow at 9:00am. The August Primary Election is on August 2, 2022, but Maricopa County is offering these "vote anywhere” early Vote Centers, which allow voters to choose from any open location, instead of being assigned to one location only.

STEP UP SUNDAY

Step Up Sunday is August 7. Our “official” return of the school year, all children and youth advance to their next classes on this date. Email Andrea (Pre-K-6th grade) or Erin (7th-12th grades) with questions or if you are interested in helping lead one of our Children’s Sunday school or Youth Formation classes.

Dayspring Children's Ministry will have a Sno-Cone Party to after both services and all current and new Children's Ministry volunteers get a free sno-cone! There will also be a Children's Ministry table on the patio where people can learn more or sign up to be a volunteer. All money earned from sno-cones benefits our Project Hope clean water well program.

BACK TO SCHOOL BASH

Parents of kids in 7th-12th grades: Sign up for our B2SB Back To School Bash On August 8th! This is Step Up Sunday and a new year of Formation begins during the 10:30am service. We will also have a B2SB “Back To School Bash” for all youth and parents from 5pm-7pm at Dayspring Tempe. The event will feature parent and youth discussions about the upcoming year, chances to learn about 2022-2023 events, and of course, food! We strongly encourage you and your Jr./Sr. High youth to come, even if you cannot be there the whole time. (And yes, younger siblings can attend!) Email Erin with questions or RSVP here.

CHURCH CAMPOUT

Are you ready to cool off and enjoy fun, fellowship (at 8500 feet) and worship with a large bunch of adventurous Dayspringers? Mark your calendars now! This year, we will again head to Hoyer Campground near Greer, Arizona, where we’ve reserved family sites for our 25th Annual All Church Labor Day Campout. Registration will begin August 1 and continue until all spots are filled. Register early to guarantee your spot. Space will be limited, and you may share an individual site with another family. If you are not an experienced camper, this is a great chance for you to share equipment and/or borrow supplies from others. Because we share our main meals, you really don’t need to cook to eat really well! Hoyer has showers and flush toilets provided at the shower kiosks during limited hours, otherwise pit toilets and water/tables/fire rings are offered throughout the campground. Registration begins August 1, but you may preregister now (or ask questions) by emailing Carol Muggeridge.

5 DAY ACADEMY FOR

SPIRITUAL FORMATION

Do you need a retreat, a time to recharge your batteries? Our moral and spiritual health depends upon our openness to “withdraw to a quiet place” (Mark 1:35). At the same time, we need to hear God’s call for justice and peace. Join us for this year’s Five Day Academy for Spiritual Formation September 18-23 at the beautiful Redemptorist Renewal Center near Tucson. Sponsored by the Desert Southwest Conference, this year’s theme is “Journey into the Heart of Christ: Spiritual Healing and Justice,” with faculty presenters Vance P. Ross and Hwa-Young Chong. GOT MILES?

The cost of travel is high, and we particularly want to be able to support the members of the music staff who will participate in next summer's residency in Portsmouth, England. If you have unused airline miles that you would be willing to give to someone traveling to help reduce their cost, we would welcome the support! If you can help in this way, please email Carol. You can also make a cash contribution by sending a check marked for the England trip to the church office or pay online HERE. We can truly make this an all-church effort in a variety of ways: by traveling ourselves and by supporting travel for others. Contributions by members of the congregation who may be in a position to help others travel will be a wonderful way for you to support this effort and to ensure its success. Please give if you can!
