Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.

July prompt: “For sale: Antique desk suitable for a lady with thick legs and large drawers. Respond to Weekly Blather, Box 022” Using this poorly written classified ad as a springboard, write a “suitable” response to the advertiser.

Westfield Writers Group is for writers or want-to-be writers who have a story or memoir they would like to write, an interest in different styles of writing, a wish to interact with other writers and a desire to write in a non-judgmental environment.

This is a “just-for-fun” group. We're not professional writers. The intent is not to teach you to write but to encourage you to write something each month. Prompts are constructed with the hope that you will be inspired to write on a broad range of topics.

Contact librarian@wwpl.lib.in.us to be put on the email list for the next prompt.
