Learn all about insects with Brad Stokes, an Entomologist with the Canyon County Extension!

This fun program is part of the Junior Master Gardener curriculum. Aimed to engage children through garden and ecology themed children's books and helps inspire learning through garden activities, creative expression and exploration.

For ages 6 and up. Younger children are welcome as long as they have their caregiver with them to assist them with the activities.

Ebenezer O. Makinde is the award winning author of five books, Reign of Freedom (2019), Light of Darkness (2021), Worth of Diamonds (2023), Hopeland (2023), Cassius King (2023), in addition to The Wonderful Attic of Dreams. He holds a BA in Communications and an MBA from Boise State University, where he was also a 2010 Fiesta Bowl Champion.

Make a dessert that looks like your favorite book!

Patrons who register will be given a few starting materials and some idea cards to jump start their inspiration. You'll have three days to create your edible masterpieces, and then you will be judged on presentation and creativity of materials.

Presentation day will consist of staff and patrons judging the bakes, and end with you sharing your delicious edible book with your friends and family in celebration of your hard work. Patrons not participating are encouraged to come vote on their favorite bakes while enjoying refreshments provided by the library!

Treasure Valley Institute for Children's Arts will share with you about the origin of breakdance and how the black and brown youth of the Bronx inspired a cultural phenomenon that traversed the world. Breakdance started on the sidewalk, afterschool while the parents were at work. Your breakdance class will consist of moves and music of the 1970’s & 80’s!
