Please bring a case of water to our next Taste of Mesa to donate to the Mesa Hydration Donation Campaign.
For each case of 24 or more bottles you bring, you will receive an entry to a special raffle (must be a member in good standing to win).
The prize to the special raffle is a Chamber Ad Package with a $1,689 value, which includes the following:

The 18th Annual Mesa Hydration Donation Campaign, running now through September 27, 2024, provides supplies of water to people in need.
The City of Mesa works with the Mesa Chamber of Commerce, nonprofit agencies, and businesses to collect the bottles of water which are distributed through United Food Bank to numerous agencies in the valley, including A New Leaf, Paz de Cristo and Mesa United Way.
The campaign is a life saver for the less fortunate during the hot summer months. So far, the community has helped raise 363,849 bottles of water. Please help us reach our goal of 700,000!

Mesa Financial Network
July Meeting Summary:
The Mesa Financial Network heard about Job Connect Mesa, a new initiative between the City of Mesa and PipelineAZ to provide a unified experience for job seekers, employers and others looking to explore potential career paths.
Via the Job Connect Mesa portal at jobconnectmesa.pipelineaz.com, employers can provide in-depth profiles to the candidates they are seeking and candidates can be sure to find locally based job opportunities.

Mesa Veterans Program
July Meeting Summary:
Though they did not meet for the month of July, the Mesa Veterans Committee has engaged in many projects this year, including the Hometown Heroes Banner Program.
The 2024 Hometown Heroes Banners display concluded after an extended display period, from early June to late July. Though the banners are coming down for the first display, the community can expect these banners to be displayed once again in the month of November around Veterans Day.
Individuals who are interested in being added to the 2025 notification list can reach out to info@mesachamber.org. Additionally, organizations interested in potential sponsorship opportunities regarding this program can reach out to Mayra Leon Sanchez at mleonsanchez@mesachamber.org.
The committee will reconvene in August for their monthly meeting with a presentation from the City of Mesa on Mesa Job Connect.

Healthcare Committee
July Meeting Summary:
The Healthcare Committee met for their July meeting this month.
Among the group participants was John Bower, the Outreach Coordinator from the Office of Representative Greg Stanton, who introduced himself as a resource to the group. John plans to keep the group informed on future congressional updates and potential advocacy opportunities.
Additionally, the committee received a subcommittee update from the Dementia Friendly Task Force. Task Force members, Becky Friend and Phaedra Earhart, provided an update on the Dementia Friendly Business Designation. The Task Force is currently providing training for a variety of businesses, beyond those who directly serve those living with dementia.
Additionally, the committee discussed the possibility of adding a new subcommittee, possibly around mental health or outreach. Any interested, existing, or new committee members should reach out to committee staff liaison, Mayra at mleonsanchez@mesachamber.org.
Next month the City of Mesa will be presenting to the committee on Mesa Job Connect.

Community Action Partnership
July Meeting Summary:
At the July 9 meeting, the Nonprofit Vitality Council rebranded as the Community Action Partnership, emphasizing its expanded mission to foster collaboration between businesses and nonprofits. This initiative aims to strengthen relationships where businesses contribute through volunteer efforts, enhancing workforce skills and opportunities for vulnerable populations served by nonprofits.
Speakers Marlo Loria from Mesa Public Schools and Dawn Rhodes from Mesa Community College highlighted successful programs like Graduation Plus and Service-Learning, showing how partnerships between education, business, and nonprofits benefit both students and the community by preparing future workforce and fostering student engagement.

Government Affairs Committee
July Meeting Summary:
The Government Affair Committee met for their July meeting last week with the opportunity to speak with Senator Eva Burch.
Senator Burch spoke on the importance of listening. She believes that it is critical to work collaboratively, despite differing opinions that may present themselves. She elaborated on her openness to decisions, and the importance of hearing directly from her community.
Additionally, Eric Emmert from Dorn Policy Group presented the committee with the monthly legislative updates. Eric reminded the committee of the upcoming EVCCA Ballot Measure Forum Breakfast, which will take place on Thursday, September 5, from 8:30 to 10:30am, at the Chandler Center for the Arts. The next Government Affairs Committee meeting will be on Friday, August 16, and will include a discussion on City Bond Projects.

Retail Committee
July Meeting Summary:
The Retail Committee welcomed Kyle Schejbal of Group Management Services for their virtual meeting in July.
Group Management Services (GMS) is a professional employer organization (PEO) and a Benefits Administrator that serves companies of all sizes and helps them take control of their HR and business functions. Kyle discussed how businesses can save time and money by investing in a professional employer organization and benefits administrator.
