California 4-H Advisory Committees

Advisory Committee deadline extended to Sept. 30


The application for Advisory Committees has been extended to Sept. 30, 2024. All committees (except Healthy Living) are recruiting 4-H youth, volunteers, professionals and community members to join!

The Civic Engagement Advisory Committee will take senior 4-H member, adult volunteer, and 4-H staff applicants through September 30th.

What’s State Leadership Conference All About?

Each Summer youth ages 11-19 from across California come together to expand their leadership skills and have fun!


The California State Ambassador’s educational platform this year is Resilience. By practicing the Three R’s of Resilience -Relax, Restore, and Reflect- we can develop resilience. With resilience, youth can thrive in a changing world. Resilience is key to overcoming adversity, adapting to change, and managing stress. Setbacks are inevitable. Resilience helps us bounce back.

Enrollment in new 4-H year

Online self-enrollment for new 4-H year starts July 18


This is a reminder that families and volunteers will not be able to self-enroll in ZSuite until July 18, 2024. Families are encouraged to delay re-enrollment for the 2024-2025 program year until the new enrollment system is open and they can complete the online self-enrollment process.


If enrollment or re-enrollment is necessary during the interim period the system is offline, your county staff will work with you to complete the enrollment process.


Please note


Any early enrollments into ZSuite before the official opening of the system will be deleted. All dates listed are subject to change based on our vendor and UC ANR 4-H needs. Any changes will be broadly communicated by the State 4-H Office.

eXtension now called Campus

We use the Extension Foundation system to deliver interactive courses, on-demand. This system is now called Extension Foundation Campus (Campus). You can take the courses on a computer or using a mobile app. The mobile app allows you to take the courses offline!


In addition to our Core (required) courses for volunteers, we offer eLearning courses at no cost for California 4-H members, volunteers, and staff. Visit the CA 4-H Learning Center to explore our course library.

2024-25 New & Returning Volunteer Course Now Available

The required courses for new and returning volunteers are now available in Campus. You can find the courses and their enrollment keys on the CA 4-H Learning Center website. Each course is offered in both English and Spanish. 

New Volunteer Course


If you're starting your first year as a volunteer or coming back after a break of a year or more, this course is for you. You'll learn important parts of 4-H service, including orientation, CANRA guidelines, and the 4-H Thriving Model for Positive Youth Development. You'll also learn about 2-Deep Supervision and how to help create a safe and welcoming environment for all youth. The course takes about 1 hour and 35 minutes to complete and can be done in multiple sessions.

Returning Volunteer Course


If you're beginning your second year or more without a break of a year or more, this course is for you. It provides important updates on policies and best practices to keep you informed. It covers CANRA guidelines and the 4-H Thriving Model for Positive Youth Development. You'll also learn how to help create a safe and welcoming environment for all youth. The course takes about 55 minutes to complete and can be done in multiple sessions.

Make It With Wool

Be a winner with wool!

Enter the California 2024 Make It With Wool Contest.


The California Make it With Wool Contest will be held on Saturday October 5, in Dixon at the Lambtown Festival. Judging will be in the morning followed by the afternoon awards and fashion show.


The competition promotes creativity and the versatility of sewing, knitting, and crocheting using wool fabrics and yarns. The contest has a long, colorful history with the first contest being held in 1947 to foster an interest in sewing using wool. The contest has since encouraged personal expression and exceptional workmanship while showcasing thousands of awe-inspiring woolen garments from all over the US. Many of the entries have been created by 4-H clothing and textile members.


The California MIWW Contest will offer the following categories:

  • Pre-Teen 12 years and under
  • Junior 13-16
  • Senior 17-24
  • Adult 25 and older
  • Wearable Accessories for all ages.


(Age is on January 1, 2024.) All garments must be constructed using fabric or yarn containing a minimum of 60% wool. Specific rules, age and garment requirements, previous contest photos, and judging criteria can be found on the MIWW website at makeitwithwool.com.


Junior, Senior, and Adult California winners are eligible to compete in the 2025 National Contest. The National Contest will be held in Scottsdale, Arizona January 16th - 19th 2025.
