UWJCGC - Board President
Hello United Way Community, this is your current community President and all of us at the United Way are doing our BEST to support and make our community a “Better United” community. We at the United Way just finished our annual training and conducted some strategic planning to help plan and prepare for future support for our community. We received some wonderful assistance from the Geary County Extension agent who helped guide and direct our planning efforts. Great Job!!!
Our next big events are Stuff the Bus and our Annual Volunteer Recognition dinner. We can never place a value on our volunteers, they are so important to the mission of the United Way. And then our Stuff The Bus, this mission is NOW!!! We need your support to help us help the youth of our community to be prepared for school by providing them with the tools to be successful. Please help.
This is enough for now, The United Way never stops and we appreciate all of the support we received from our Troops during Freedom Fest and always.
Again, Thank You one and All for supporting your local United Way.
Happy 4th of July! The United Way JCGC had so much fun in the parade. A huge thank you to the board members (Tammy Melton, Reed and his wife Reagan Harp, Blake Ballhourst), and Ronna Larson (Campaign Chair), for walking in the parade. Thank you to my awesome family; Bruce, Julius, Jason, Rachel, Wayne, Hayden, and Hannah, for jumping in and walking with us. Jim Clark Chevrolet let UWJCGC use a beautiful 2023 Chevy Silverado, and let me say, that was a very nice truck! Our volunteers gave out tons of cold water and over 5 cases of t-shirts. Thank you to the patrons that watched the parade. We loved the waves, hello's, and smiles. It is always enjoyable to get out of the office and enjoy our community.
Now with the 4th of July behind us, we are putting together our Stuff the Bus. This will be our 13th year with Stuff the Bus, and our 6th year of Adopt-A-Backpack! I would like to share some brags about Stuff the Bus and Adopt-A-Backpack, so the community can see just how amazing they are and the impact that they have created! Since I started in 2016, Stuff the Bus has collected over 40,000 items, $13,600, 500 Adopt-A-Backpacks, and 7,500 volunteer hours. That is a huge impact and shows how strong our community is. Help us continue to have a great Stuff the Bus and ensure that children have the supplies that they need for school.
