July 2023

How can I help hungry people this summer?

As summer sets in, we often associate it with sunny vacations and carefree days. However, for many families, the summer months bring about a pressing concern: access to food. Food shelf services play a vital role in bridging the gap during this time, ensuring that children and their families have access to nutritious meals. According to recent statistics, Minnesota food shelves have witnessed a staggering rise in demand, with an estimated 30% increase in usage over the past year alone. This statistic highlights the critical role that food shelf services play in combating hunger and food insecurity in the state.

Stuff the Bus 2023 is HERE and we couldn't be more excited to support this effort to help get much-needed school supplies in the hands of families in the Stillwater area.

Donations of new school supplies will be collected through August 6.

We will be passing out Skittles. Did you know, Skittles were the most popular candy in 1983 - the year Valley Outreach was founded? Cheers to 40 years!

Disability Pride Month

July is Disability Pride Month. It marks the 1990 enactment of the Americans with Disabilities Act, a landmark U.S. rights law that extended civil rights protections to persons with disabilities.

Valley Outreach recognizes the remarkable impact individuals with disabilities have made on our community and embraces both visible and invisible disabilities, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and appreciating the diverse abilities of all individuals.

Valley Outreach aims to create a society where everyone's unique contributions are valued and celebrated, fostering an environment of inclusivity and understanding.
