A Message from
Mayor John Gunter
As the month of July begins, I wanted to take a moment to address some important matters and share updates on various initiatives that are shaping our city’s future.
As we approach Independence Day, I invite you to celebrate with us at the City’s Red, White & Boom on Tuesday, July 4th. The event is free for attendees and will have music, food, entertainment, and the best fireworks display in Southwest Florida. This annual occasion reminds us of the hard-fought freedoms we cherish and the shared values that unite us.
In June, the City hosted its inaugural Flag Day celebration in Club Square. This special occasion allowed us to come together as a community to honor the symbol of our nation.
Respectfully,

Progress Made on Caloosahatchee Connect
The Caloosahatchee Connect Project is a large reclaimed water pipeline the City of Cape Coral is constructing between Cape Coral and Fort Myers, providing additional irrigation water to residents. The additional irrigation water source will reduce withdrawals from freshwater canals and help maintain water levels during the dry season.
After breaking ground on the project in late March, progress on this project has been swift. Centerline is drilling 7,630 Ft from Ft Myers to Cape Coral, crossing the Caloosahatchee River using an American Auger 660 to install a 24" fusible polyvinyl chloride (FPVC) Pipe. When finished, the 7,630-foot reclaimed water transmission main will break the world record as the largest and longest subaqueous HDD project using fusible polyvinyl chloride pipe in the world.
The project, slated for completion this year, will allow Cape Coral to purchase millions of gallons of reclaimed water from the City of Fort Myers that would otherwise be discharged into the Caloosahatchee River.

Always Practice Fireworks Safety
Did you know that every year there are over 10,000 injuries that require visits to the Emergency Room and almost 20,000 fires due to fireworks?
The safest and best option for watching fireworks this July 4th is to view a professional show like "Red, White & BOOM."
- Alcohol and fireworks do not mix
- Never light a firework in your hand
- Only use fireworks outdoors
- Only light one firework at a time and stand back after
- Keep a bucket of water nearby to dispose of used and dud fireworks
- Keep pets and small children away from fireworks
