Purses and Pages!

Do you love purses? Don't miss Lighthouse Academy at Newburg's Purses and Pages fundraiser on Aug. 12th at 9:00-1:00 pm! Over 1,500 designer, vintage, and other purses, backpacks, all colors, all kinds - only $10 or less each! Tell your friends and mark your calendar! Oh, and there will also be more than 1,000 scarves available at $2.00 or less...and thousands of books for $1.00 each!

Back in Session Soon
Lighthouse students will soon be back in school and beginning Lighthouse's fall program on the day after Labor Day, September 5th! It's hard to believe the summer is passing so quickly! Lighthouse is a BLOCStar!
BLOCS (Building Louisville's Out-of-School Time Coordinated System) is a partnership of Louisville, Kentucky's education, government and community impact organizations that strive to improve opportunities for our youth. BLOCS Goals include:
  • Setting quality standards for out-of-school time programs
  • Inciting participation by out-of-school time program providers
  • Motivating out-of-school time program providers to strive for excellence

Lighthouse has been commissioned a BLOCStar! By adhering to the BLOCStar Best Practice Guidelines, Lighthouse programs are identified and promoted as an official BLOCS program partner. Qualifications to be a BLOCSTAR include: BLOCS program partners must identify as Youth Development organizations that provide programming for young people during out-of-school time hours. BLOCS defines Youth Developing as activities intentionally designed to include a learning objective and to transfer social-emotional learning (SEL) skills to young people. Participation in YPQA (Youth Program Quality Assessment) and/or SAYO-Y (Social Emotional Learning surveys) are utilized. Lighthouse participates in both YPQA with internal and external assessments on programming and improvement planning along with SAYO surveys taken by our students. In addition, Lighthouse has been a part of BLOCS since its inception and was the first program in Louisville to sign on and participate as a BLOCStar!
Give for Good Louisville!
September 14th is the date for Give for Good Louisville, a 24-hour period of online local giving! This year, Lighthouse has TWO Matching Donors! Turn your donation dollars into THREE dollars by donating on September 14! Thank you for your support!
Middletown Masters Golf Scramble - August 21st
Many thanks to the Methodist Men of Middletown United Methodist Church for many years of hosting this popular fundraiser for Lighthouse Academy! The August 21st golf scramble is at Oldham County Country Club beginning with an 8:30 shotgun start. Just to make it interesting, everyone might need to speed up their play since this is also the day of the solar eclipse! We wouldn't want anyone to have to finish their game in the dark...

August 5th Health and Back to School Fair!

Plans are being finalized for our Saturday, Aug. 5th Health and Back to School Fair - 10:00 am - 1: 00 pm. We are receiving backpack & school supplies from all of our wonderful donors, have our health care professionals lined up, and volunteers assigned to make this a very successful event again. Last year, we had over 1000 people participate and provided 800 backpacks, nearly 100 back to school physicals, 160 vision screens and 75 dental checks! Attendance seems to grow every year and we're excited to see what opportunities this year brings. To find out more, click here.
