NCMEC Take It Down Service

Teens don't always think about the consequences of sharing pictures and videos of themselves. Maybe they sent a picture to someone they thought they could trust, were tricked into sharing something, or simply made a mistake and posted something they shouldn't. Having explicit images online, or being threatened with the sharing of such content, can be devastating and has even resulted in suicide.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children has a service that can help people remove online explicit images and videos taken before the age of 18. According to the Take It Down website:

"Take It Down is a free service that can help you remove or stop the online sharing of nude, partially nude, or sexually explicit images or videos taken of you when you were under 18 years old. You can remain anonymous while using the service and you won’t have to send your images or videos to anyone. Take It Down will work on public or unencrypted online platforms that have agreed to participate."

Illinois School Safety Conference Oct. 2nd

The Illinois School Safety Conference is scheduled for October 2, 2024, from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm in Niles, IL. This conference is free for school personnel, police, emergency preparedness personnel, and public safety officers (you must bring your school or agency ID to enter the event). The conference includes speakers from various organizations, free continental breakfast and lunch, and onsite vendors. Additionally, paperwork will be provided on site for school personnel seeking Professional Development hours. For more information and to register, click here.
