Key Campus Mission Moment

When we say "collaboration is key," what we mean is that it takes an entire community to end homelessness. Take Phil's* story as a powerful example:

Phil* came to Phoenix in January with little but the shirt on his back. By February, he was at Key Campus seeking assistance. Keys to Change staff immediately began working with Phil to assess his goals, and create a roadmap to achieve them.

First, a stop at Homeless ID Project to obtain his birth certificate and social security card. Next, with identification documents in hand, an appointment with the on-Campus office of AZ Department of Economic Security to enroll in AHCCCS (state medical benefits) and SNAP (nutrition assistance).

With a bed assigned in CASS, Phil spent the next few weeks enjoying meals provided by St. Vincent de Paul as he worked with St. Joseph the Worker to gameplan his career. All the while, Phil utilized the Key Campus post office to send and receive vital correspondences and as an address to list on applications.

When a room became available for Phil at Victory Place managed by Keys to Change, he jumped at the chance to have a quiet, stable environment as he studied his way through trade school with the help of Arizona@Work. Now, Phil has a full time job as a dishwasher and is looking for opportunities to apply his new certifications in HVAC and plumbing.

With the help of Keys to Change Flex Funding program, Phil received the final push of assistance he needed to cover move-in costs and settle in. He's now in his own apartment at a complex managed by Arizona Housing, Inc. and looks forward to reconnecting with his two kids in this new chapter!

Thank you, Bank of America!

Employees from Bank of America visited Key Campus last week to hand-deliver a $30,000 check to support housing navigation!

Through housing navigation, the team at Keys to Change assists clients with understanding their housing options, applying for the right opportunities, building skill sets for independent living, and accessing critical services along the way.

BofA really spread the love, also making a grant to Key Campus partner, Homeless ID Project, supporting their work providing no-cost ID replacements to our unhoused clients.

With support from our friends at Bank of America, we're unlocking the way home.

Thirst Aid July 2024

with Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS)

 and Keys to Change

“When our clients come through our doors, there are already so many barriers and struggles, access to water should not be one of them. We’re grateful to be a Featured Partner for July and look forward to ensuring access to water is available 24/7," says CASS Chief Development Officer Whitney Thistle.

Teaming up with our Key Campus partners each month to promote Thirst Aid helps maximize our impact. We're stronger together. Thank you, CASS!

Each month, Keys to Change and a featured Key Campus partner set up shop at the Harrison gate to collect water from the community. Vital supplies in high demand include:

  • Bottled Water
  • Electrolyte packs
  • Socks and shoes
  • Hats, sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Cooling towels

Next Collection Date is Saturday, August 3rd, 9am - noon at 1300 W Harrison Street.

The July collection was a huge success! Nearly 8 full pallets of bottled water in a single morning. Pictured here are Larry and Peggy from Esperanza Church, who dropped by with a full car and a check from members of their congregation.
