Judson Hospitality Summit

Saturday, June 29th, 10 am to noon - Ann Judson Room

 Why “Summit”? Summit – “a gathering of people who care deeply about the same topic.” A lot of folks care deeply about hospitality at Judson (it is one of our core values)! A lot of folks have ideas about how to “do” hospitality at Judson. Let’s create a plan to enhance hospitality at Judson by working together! As an added bonus, Polly will provide training for making coffee with the Bunn Coffeemaker. Please let us know if you can attend. – Contact Polly Schrom at  schrompolly@gmail.com.

Sacred Sites Tour Reflection & Discussion on June 30, 2024 at 10:45 am.

An opportunity for Judson folks and friends of Judson to reflect on our individual and common experience during and since the recent Sacred Sites Tour will be offered in the Ann Judson Room at Judson Church following the June 30, 2024 Sunday service. Participation in the tour is NOT a requirement for attendance at this event, so please come, share, learn, and expand your perspective on Minnesota’s history with the Dakota people. All are welcome to also attend the church service at 9:30 a.m. As background for the discussion, please refer to the links below to information on the Judson website:

Bright Future Report

On Sunday, June 9, we had the first of three summer forums on the topic of “Fashioning a Bright Future (for Judson) Together.” The forum was very well-attended and lively. Introductory information was presented, and reactions/ideas were discussed around table treats provided by Yin and Scott. Index cards for comments were collected, with the plan to make all this available to the entire church. So, printed copies of these are available in the back of the church or you can click on the links below.

10 Things we know about Judson and Fashioning a Bright Future Together

Our next two “Bright Future” forums are on the second Sunday of July and August (July 14 and August 11). Since Personnel and Property are our two largest church budget items, they will be topics of discussion. The goal of these three forums is to present information, generate discussion, and brainstorm ideas related to long-term planning for Judson (from today to 10 years from now). These forums will provide a foundation for long-term planning, which will occur between September 2024 and January 2025.

Thank you for your attention to this.

“Bright Future” Team: Diane, Scott, Brad, Karen, Joel, and Wayne

Vote

Our friends at Lutheran Church of Christ the Redeemer (LCCR) at 5440 Penn Ave. South has asked churches to sign, by July 4th, onto their statement against the alarming rise in hate speech and behavior against minority populations in the US.

A list of churches and faith communities that have signed this statement will be printed in the Star Tribune and the Pioneer Press. We, the Judson Church Council, are asking for your support of this statement. Please express your approval or disapproval of this statement by voting either by replying to this email or by voting in the back of the church.

A copy of the statement is provided as an attachment to this email, copies are also available in the back of the sanctuary by a clip board where you can sign your name

==================================================

Office Closed

Starting June 3, Eileen will take Mondays off during the summer (June-August).

==================================================

Meals on Wheels - Did you know that we serve frozen meals to over 75 clients every week? We deliver those meals in handled paper bags, so, we always need HANDLED paper bags. If you have anything to donate, please drop off at Judson Church, 4101 Harriet Ave S. There is a yellow covered bin by the red door where paper bags can be placed anytime. Thank you!

Volunteer Opportunities:

 Tell your story!

We would love to hear your story – volunteer to do a Personal Reflection in worship! Contact Karla Forsyth at karlamcgray@hotmail.com

Worship Readers are needed!

Be a part of Judson’s worship experience – volunteer to be a Worship Reader! The Worship Reader will be involved in sharing Judson’s Land Acknowledgement, the first lesson of the morning (scripture or contemporary), and reading the prayer intents with Carolyn. The role requires a clear and articulate voice and the ability to convey the emotion and meaning behind the words, helping the congregation to engage with the service on a deeper level. We need you! Contact Polly Schrom at schrompolly@gmail.com
