Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ |
June is here! There are many great celebrations in this month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. June 1 is the feast of St. Justin, Martyr followed by the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. "The Lord has given us bread from heaven: Let us give thanks and praise!"
Enjoy time with your family this month! Look for the bucket list, for ways to serve your community, retreats, and liturgical celebrations.
We pray especially for all fathers this month: Lord, guide them to be good role models and loving to their families. We ask you to help them be a good father like You are. Give them grace and patience to handle situations lovingly. Amen.
Please let us know how we can better serve you and your parish as we carry out our mission of evangelization to help parishes bring people to an encounter with Christ and a deeper appreciation of the Catholic faith. (Contact us at family@diocesepb.org)
May God's Mercy and Peace be with you and your family,
Cathy, Deacon Louie, Beth, Liliana, Andy,
Maria, Cindy, and Rosario

NO ONE BURIED ALONE
Saturday, June 22, 2024
12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery
"The reason we have these services is to show that every human being deserves a dignified burial as each individual is created in the image of God, and that fact does not cease with death. Some of the deceased may never have experienced respect or loving kindness. Many of them may have passed on lonely with no human contact or care. Mother Teresa once said: “One of the greatest diseases [in our time] is to be nobody to anybody.” Unfortunately, this applies to many of the individuals whose remains we place in the compassion crypts, otherwise their remains would have been taken care of by family and/or friends." ~ OLQP Cemetery.

PRAYER FOR PROTECTION FROM STORMS
God our Father, Creator of the Universe and Lord over all creation, we humbly stand before you as your children in thanksgiving for your loving care and protection. We ask that you keep us safe from all hurricanes and illnesses that may threaten us in the coming seasons. Protect us from all fear and anxiety and give us ardent trust and hope in Your love and mercy. You alone have the power to command the sea, the wind, and the rain. You alone bring peace, calm, and safety. Father, we thank you in advance, for you are our only Refuge. We ask this through Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen. Mary, Queen of the Apostles, and Patroness of our Diocese, pray for us.

June is devoted to the Sacred Heart
The family that prays together stays together.
The First Friday of each month is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a devotion specifically promoted by St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. One of the many ways to honor this day is to pray a prayer in adoration and love of the Sacred Heart.
Spend time together as a family to pray, attend mass, or take a drive over to your local parish's adoration chapel. Enjoy the presence of Christ as a family.

Priesthood -
A Eucharistic Adventure
In his homily at the May 4 priestly ordination Mass, Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito recalled the message of Pope Francis to Rome’s deacons becoming priests this year: “Pastoral life is not a manual, but rather a daily offering; it is not a desk job, but rather a ‘Eucharistic adventure.'"
