A MESSAGE FROM DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT, REV. PHIL RHOADES

​Reflecting back on Assembly and the song the quartet sang before my report, I am reminded of these words:

Only one left Heaven for a Cross

Only one could die for my soul

Only one would crush the curse of sin

Only one was raised to life again

Only one is King of every King

Only one is coming back for me

All the Praise belongs to Jesus…

I am thankful today for all that Jesus has done for us and I am sure you are too!

         In a day and time where everything about the church is being questioned. Where “progressive Christianity” seems to be the new thought, I just wanted to remind and reassure you of where we stand on the Joplin District.

We still believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We still believe the Bible is God’s love letter sent to mankind.

We still believe that sin is real, and that only by the blood of Christ are we forgiven.

We still believe God is seeking us, through Prevenient Grace.

We still believe that there must be a sincere moment of repentance and changing of direction for one to have a relationship with Christ.

We still believe we are adopted as children of the King.

We still believe that there is a 2^nd work of Grace whereby our wills are surrendered and Jesus Christ becomes Lord of our lives.

We still believe the Church is the Bride of Christ.

We still believe Baptism is an outward sign of an inward work.

We still believe communion is a means of Grace where we are reminded of His death and resurrection and His coming again.

We still believe in Divine healing.

We still believe Jesus is coming again.

We still believe there is a final judgement where there will be a final separation between those who rejected a relationship with Christ and those who have a right relationship with Him and those who do will spend eternity in a place called Heaven.

WE ARE NAZARENE.

OUR CORE VALUES AS A DENOMINATION ARE STILL CHRISTIAN, HOLINESS, MISSIONAL.

We still believe we are to reach a lost world with the Good News of Christ. Thus making “Christlike disciples in the nation”.

I am thankful for my church and proud to be a part of it! I hope you are too!
