Dear Jones Family,

The holiday spirit is in full swing at Jones! Our winter concerts (please see the website calendar) provide wonderful opportunities to showcase our students' talents. Dance, Choral, and Instrumental Music concerts are just part of our school's commitment to the arts. Several student clubs and organizations have been sponsoring fun and thought-provoking interactive displays and activities that promote the positive and supportive Jones spirit of community that is such an important part of our school.

When we return to school after winter break (January 9), there will be much to share regarding preparation for the ACT and SAT, scheduling for next year, selective enrollment, and many other important matters. But, in the meantime, please enjoy a relaxing and joyous holiday season. We hope our "No-Homework Holiday" initiative helps make everyone's season bright!

Happy Holidays.

 Annual Fund

Give a Gift to Jones and Help Us Reach Our $200,000 Goal

The Annual Fund is the Friends of Jones primary vehicle for raising funds for the school to bridge the crevice created by insufficient CPS budget allocations. This year's ambitious yet essential goal is $200,000. December is a crucial month for making strides toward that goal.

So far this year, annual fund monies have supported the Aquarium Club, Athletic Dept., Best Buddies, Bowling Teams, Cheerleading, Dance Program, Debate Club, English Dept. and Choir among others and provided a grant of $27,000 for the purchase of Chromebooks for student use.

A heartfelt thank you to those who have already given so generously this year. We ask, at this time of year-end giving, that if you haven't yet done so, to please consider a gift to Jones through the Annual Fund.

Every dollar, every penny counts. To make your contribution, please  click the lin k below and help keep Jones a stellar school for our students.

Thank you and Happy New Year!

Change Collection Class Challenge

Wondering what to do with the loose change sitting around the house? Coins (and bills) in your purse or pockets weighing you down?

During Homecoming Week, Dec. 12-16, JCP students are excited to participate in an all-class change collection challenge.

Each class has a designated day to collect change:

Mon. Dec 12 - Freshman class

Tues. Dec 13 - Sophomore class

Wed. Dec 14 - Junior class

Thursday, Dec. 15 - Senior class

The class that collects the most money keeps their bank PLUS Friends of Jones will MATCH the funds! Other classes keep the funds they collect and win Eagle Games points.

Be sure to send your loose change to Jones with your student on their class day to help raise money for important events such as Prom, Graduation and Senior Dinner.

Get in the Spirit!

Coat Drive

Big Plans for JCP's Aquarium Club

Stop by the Jones Library on the third floor and check out the new 220-gallon fresh water aquarium provided by the JCP Aquarium Club. The lucky inhabitants of this state of the art environment include t hree large "Plecos" or sucker mouth catfish, three Rapheal cat fish, an assortment of African Cichlids of various colors, and a tropical parrot fish.
The Aquarium Club currently has 25 members. Mr. Ray Lesniewski, Science Dept. Chair and AP Chemistry teacher, is the club sponsor. The club would like to commend librarian, Fran Feeley, for his work in facilitating the installation of the aquarium.  The club plans to install 7 more aquariums by January 2017.
