Gospel: Luke 2:15-21

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go now to Bethlehem and see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.” So they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger. When they saw this, they made known what had been told them about this child; 18and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.

After eight days had passed, it was time to circumcise the child; and he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

Father,

For the love for this world, You graced us with the gift of redemption and life everlasting, through the way of life, teachings, and sacrifice of Thy one and only Son, Christ, our Savior. Let us acknowledge with thanksgiving for this precious offering, the greatest love of all, in following the path laid forth by Jesus; honoring others above one’s self with the generosity of consideration, kindness, and compassion.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Who lives and reigns with Thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Amen.

Did you receive new winter clothing for Christmas and now need to make room in your closet? St. John’s, Lakeport, the only Episcopal Church serving Lake County has a Thrift Store in need of winter clothing in good condition. Coats, sweaters, hats, gloves, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Deacon Susan Napoliello and Rev. Wendy Watson will be traveling to Lakeport for worship on Sunday, January 15th.  They will happily bring your donations of winter clothing.

Donations can be brought to St. Luke’s on Sunday, January 8th for Deacon Susan to collect or you can contact her by phone (415-734-1355) or email (susannapoliello@gmail.com) to arrange another drop-off opportunity.

Please limit donations to winter clothing (men, women and children) as the space is limited inside the thrift store and managed by a small number of volunteers.

Thank you!

Deacon Susan Napoliello

OUR HISTORY

In April of 2022, St. Luke's Episcopal Church celebrated the 75th anniversary of the building of the church. But the congregation is much older than that, having first gathered in June 1917 for an Episcopal service in Calistoga.
