Show your support of the Seattle Police Department ICAC Unit

If you’ve been paying attention to the news in recent weeks, you’ve likely noticed the Seattle Police Department and its role as the lead agency in the Washington Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force in the headlines as they investigate and arrest criminals who seek to hurt and exploit children.

This flurry of media attention helps demonstrate the ever-increasing number of online child enticement cases, which increased 76 percent from 2022 to 2023 and continue to rise. Unfortunately, today’s technology-driven, internet-reliant world has fostered a target-rich environment for criminals who use the internet to prey on children.

To stop these predators in their tracks, SPD’s tools must be sharper, its methods more relentless, and its investigative tactics wholly superior. This is why we’re raising funds to purchase powerful new software that will increase the ICAC Unit’s investigatory capacity and streamline efficiencies across cases, while also working to protect the wellness of the detectives who work on these traumatic cases.

The Ballmer family, the Puyallup Tribe, and the Tulalip Tribe have generously shown their support of this vital initiative. Their gifts, totaling more than $500,000, have put us 1/3 of the way to our goal of $1.5 million to purchase the Griffeye Analyze software. Your donation today brings us even closer.

Online safety is public safety. Please join us in the fight against predators who use the internet to exploit and abuse children and vulnerable young adults.
