Successful fundraising is a result of good planning and execution. However, when it comes to direct mail campaigns many nonprofits write a fundraising appeal letter and hope for the best. Do more than write a letter and hope it does well. This Lunch & Learn is designed to give you the tools to make your direct mail fundraising campaign a successful effort.
In this session we will discuss the keys to a successful campaign, which include:
- Making a plan
- Setting a goal
- Building a giving matrix
- Crafting strong messaging in both copy and imagery
- Being clear about what you need
- Asking more than once
- And, thanking donors for past and future giving

Give them the tools for success to thank donors, create their own passion statement, and find new donors without feeling that they must ask their friends. With five simple steps you can tailor your own course that will create board members who become an integral part of your fundraising process. Bring a member of your board to this event!
Presented by Queen Bee Fundraising

THANK YOU to all our incredibly generous donors who helped us once again exceed our 2022 Be the Cause goal for the fourth year in a row! Our goal for 2022 was $7,343.85, and you helped us raise $8,061.50. These funds will support local, national, and international programs such as scholarships, leadership development, and educational opportunities for AFP members across the globe. Furthermore, a portion of every member's donation goes back to our chapter to support our efforts. This is a great way to kick off 2023, and the AFP Santa Barbara/Ventura Counties Chapter Board of Directors would like to express our deepest gratitude to last year's donors for making this possible. You are giving back to the fundraising profession and supporting the future leaders in our field – THANK YOU!
Thank you 2022 Be The Cause Donors!

Art, Philanthropy, and Belonging: The Disruptive Nature of Giving | |
THOMAS H. LAKE LECTURE REGISTRATION
Art, Philanthropy, and Belonging: The Disruptive Nature of Giving
Join us for the 18th Thomas H. Lake Lecture with Dr. Mona Siddiqui on March 2, 2023.
Dr. Mona Siddiqui, OBE is an internationally renowned academic, cultural commentator and broadcaster on BBC Radio, based at the University of Edinburgh. She is a scholar of Islamic law and ethics and Christian-Muslim relations and currently the Jane and Aatos Erkko Professor at the Helsinki Collegium.
Siddiqui will explore how art and human imagination compel us to seek different worlds and justices and how religious faith makes demands of us to give in multiple ways – giving may have its limits just like hospitality, but our moral life is relational and only by being generous with our idea of community do we cultivate a sense of civic life for everyone.
