Sunday School Begins
This Sunday, January 9
We hope you are looking forward to a new Sunday School semester with new class offerings. All Sunday School classes begin at 9:00 am. We have a variety of classes. Our classes will run on a 13-week, 7-week or 6-week schedule, as noted in each description in the Sunday School booklet that can be found in the worship center. You can also read about the class offerings on our website by clicking here. We hope you will find a class that will benefit your relationship with Christ and connect you with others.

Our pastors are looking forward to hosting a time of fellowship and prayer each Sunday morning as we begin class. Regular discipleship and fellowship is a vital part of learning to stand on truth and walk in grace together. If you have any questions about Sunday School, please email info@christcovenant.org.

Christ Covenant Welcomes the
Bridge Builders Conference
on Sunday, January 16
Since 1995, Campus Outreach Charlotte (COC) has been serving as a ministry of Christ Covenant Church. Together, we have partnered to fulfill the mission of “Glorifying God by Building Laborers on the Campus for the Lost World.” Today, that ministry extends from Davidson College to East Carolina University. Globally, Campus Outreach is comprised of dozens of franchises that serve under the authority of local churches all around the world. The college campus is becoming an exponentially more diverse setting and it’s therefore vital to have leaders who reflect the campus’ diversity.

The Bridge Builders Conference is a conference hosted by Campus Outreach for all of the minority staff serving along the east coast. Over the past decade, Campus Outreach has seen a tremendous amount of fruit when it comes to the diversity of its ministry. The Bridge Builders Conference is designed to encourage, enrich and educate minority staff members in the work of building diverse laborers on the campus. Christ Covenant members, please welcome our guests on Sunday, January 16 as the Campus Outreach staff join with us in worship during the Bridge Builders Conference.
Biblical Counseling Training Opportunity
Tuesday, January 18
The book, How People Change, describes 6 common facts found in many churches:
Fact 1: Each week, there are people in our church with a multitude of problems.
Fact 2: The Bible says we have everything we need to help these people (2 Peter 1:3).
Fact 3: People usually seek help first from a friend, family member, or pastor before going to a professional counselor
Fact 4: These people will get either no help, bad help, or gospel-centered help from that friend, family member, or pastor.
Fact 5: If they don’t get meaningful help, they will look elsewhere.
Fact 6: They will seek to help others with whatever they found helpful.

The Biblical Counseling Ministry at Christ Covenant exists to provide gospel-centered help to those in need—“God’s care through God’s people.” It is rooted in the truth that God’s Word is sufficient, authoritative, and relevant for life and godliness (2 Tim 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:3-4). It is focused on the practical application of the gospel in the trials and issues of life as we seek to become more like Christ. If you often find yourself drawn to those who are hurting and struggling, yet feel inadequate to help or fear giving the wrong answer then this training may be for you.

Christ Covenant Church is looking to expand our lay-counseling ministry by equipping those who sense God’s call to this important work or are simply looking to be able to provide gospel-centered counsel as you cross paths with those in need. Bob Goudzwaard will be hosting an informational session on Tuesday, January 18, at 7:00 pm in the Community Life Center (CLC) Chapel. Any questions, email Bob Goudzwaard at bgoudzwaard@christcovenant.org.
