Discovering the Stories - scholarship of teaching and Learning in Your Discipline

CAFE Summer Institute 2023 invites faculty to create “micro-SoTL projects” that can be carried out within one semester and written up the next semester, with special emphasis on projects that contribute to increasing pass rates and improving equity outcomes and/or build on our previous work in anti-racist teaching & learning.

SoTL focuses on our classrooms as spaces worthy of serious, systematic, publishable study (Boyer, 1990). Like all scholarship, SoTL projects have clear goals, adequate preparation, appropriate methods, significant results, effective presentation, and reflective critique.

Get your old materials out of Blackboard before 4pm June 2, 2023.

Faculty and staff will lose access to Blackboard at 4pm Friday June 2, 2023. Please look through any courses or organizations you have on Blackboard and see if you need to “harvest” materials or information. CAFE and IT&IP can't provide individual support (i.e. we can't do it for you but we can show you how). See CAFE's Transitioning from Blackboard site for more information, tutorials, and how to get help. CAFE is open and available during Spring Break.

CAFE is proud to announce Dr. Donya Rahimi. Our instructional designer successfully defended her dissertation entitled "Goal Setting to Improve Students’ Self-Regulated Learning, Studying, and Academic Achievement." Dr. Rahimi has earned her PhD in Educational Psychology from Simon Fraser University and is excited to use her research and learnings at Cal Poly Pomona.
