Labor Day Potluck

We had a wonderful turn out for the Labor Day Potluck at Tori and Bob's dome house in Golden Gate Canyon. Several inquiring minds joined the members to get to know us and learn about our vision for Ralston Creek Cohousing.

Now is the time to learn more, as we are very close to designing our common house and individual living spaces.

GET INVOLVED!

Create the community you want to live in.
Get in on the "ground floor" as we design our community. We value your participation.

Attending one or more social events is a great way to get to know the
members and find out if cohousing is right for you.

See below for more upcoming events!

Coffee and Conversation

Visit a Cohousing Community!
You are invited to a coffee "Meet and Greet" to chat with Ralston Creek Cohousing members. This event will be held in Boulder at Wildsage Cohousing on Sunday, September 16, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. See our events listing here on the website: Ralston Creek Cohousing Event s. Click on this link to learn more about Wildsage Cohousing.

This is a rare opportunity to see a common house and learn more about the amenities that might be possible in the Gatehouse at Ralston Creek.

Following the coffee we are going to enjoy the Mapleton Hill Porch Fest or the Firefly Handmade Fall Market on the Pearl Street Mall.

Cohousing is a great way to live in community. Did you know there are already 15 cohousing communities in Colorado's Front Range area? Don't miss this opportunity to hear why so many people want to be a part of this lifestyle.
Arvada Affordable Housing Fair
Saturday, September 29, 2018
10:00 am to 12:00 pm

Arvadans for Progressive Action, an Arvada citizen volunteer group, is hosting a housing resource fair. A variety of community organizations and government agencies, including the City of Arvada, will be in attendance to answer your housing questions.

We’ll be there, too, with information on how cohousing and sustainable living lower your housing costs and how to get into Ralston Creek CoHousing. A smaller unit in the Gatehouse would be a great starter home. We soon will be designing the building and common spaces, so now is the time to get in.

Topics will be addressed at the fair such as:
• Financial help for essential home repairs
• Assistance locating affordable rents/housing assistance
• Building an accessory dwelling unit
• Making homes safe and accessible for seniors who wish to age in place
• Home sharing for seniors who wish to age in place
• Financial assistance for qualifying first time homebuyers

Snacks and child activities will be available.

For more information about the Housing Resource Event, contact Mindy Mohr at 303-717-6916 or mcarlamohr@aol.com.

Capital Hill Urban Cohousing

CHUC serves as a living, collaborative example of ‘trust’ for the 2018 Seattle Design Festival.

You may have seen Grace Kim's TED Talk on how cohousing can make us happier and live longer. Grace and her husband, Mike Mariano, the architects who designed Capital Hill Urban Cohousing, also live and work in this intentional community in Seattle. I had the pleasure of hearing Grace speak at the 2017 National Cohousing Conference in Nashville and this project helped to spark my enthusiasm for cohousing. The Seattle Times profiled their community recently.

Bob Jorgensen

When I was young, our family moved a lot. From Duluth to Buffalo to Hawaii and back, it was new places, new experiences and new friends. Shy by nature, I became a loner.
I’ve always loved making things and followed that passion through study in 3-D design, woodworking, furniture making and studio crafts. I had a son, taught briefly, but my place was in a studio.
I moved to Colorado, worked for the State History Museum building exhibits and for Historic Denver restoring Victorian houses while setting up my woodworking studio in Arvada. I found commissions and galleries for my work and began restoring/recreating our house and property.
After meeting Deb, I joined the Boulder Arts and Crafts Gallery (the co-op) and found a community of people I didn’t even realize I was wanting. For thirty plus years, that relationship has shown us the power of group dynamic. Discovering Geos and Ralston Creek Cohousers, I hope to continue to find that sense of community for the rest of my years.
