Join NAAIA Florida as we continue to celebrate Black History Month with a deeper understanding of The History of Black Insurance. We are please to have NAAIA Central Virginia President Jarrard "Rod" Powell, Sr. join us for a conversation moderated by NAAIA Florida president Sharlee Edwards.
We look forward to digging in and learning more about his experience and desire to write books around black pioneers in the insurance industry and obtaining your license. Learn a bit more about Mr. Powell -
Over the last 12 years, Jarrard "Rod" Powell Sr., REBC, CLCS, has become an accomplished and well-respected professional in the insurance and financial services industry. He serves as an Agency Principal of Encore Insurance Group in Chesterfield, VA, a full-service firm providing solutions in property & casualty, benefits, and life insurance. In addition, Powell is also a renowned author, having written two books, including "You Should Get A License" and "Black Pioneers of the American Insurance Industry," the former of which is currently a the Top 100 Business Insurance book on Amazon.
As an influential thought leader in the insurance industry, Powell has been featured in various podcasts and publications, including Big I Magazine, Near & Far podcast, Insurance Nerds, and more. He also hosts the popular "You Should Get A License" Podcast highlighting other professionals and spotlighting career paths in the industry. Powell's dedication to education is evident through his recently appointed role as an Adjunct Professor in the Risk Management and Insurance School at VCU.
Furthermore, he actively contributes to the insurance community as the President of NAAIA Central Virginia and as a Board Member of the Virginia Insurance Association. All the above being said, Rod’s most important and impactful role is as a husband and father. His personal mission is to add value to the world in a positive way and empower others with opportunities to learn more about the most underrated industry in business today.
