Join the 2024 Climb for Kids Team in the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic

We are in the process of building our 2024 Iron Horse Bicycle Classic team roster and we'd love your help filling the rest of the spots. If you or any of your family and friends have ever considered riding in any of the Iron Horse Cycling Events, we would love to provide you with free registration to join our team. We have a great team of riders (from newbies to very experienced riders) to encourage and motivate each other as we enter 2024!

Our riders come with many different backgrounds and stories, but it is guaranteed you will have a great time being part of a team committed to helping kids in southwest Colorado! Join our team of medical professionals, parents of medically complex kids, teen riders, community members that joined after hearing our mission during Noel Night, and even friends all the way from the Front Range who were inspired from other rides together!

This cycling event is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Everyone has a ‘why’ and a reason they choose to "Climb for Kids" – we can’t wait to hear yours!

YOUR COMMITMENT:

Raise a minimum of $300 for the Durango Derailers Patient Assistance Fund. The team covers your registration fee for road or mountain bike events.

YOUR IMPACT:

The Iron Horse has graciously donated 50 bib registration slots to the Durango Derailers for the 2024 ride to help our cause of helping kids throughout southwest Colorado. Dollars raised by Durango Derailers Climbing for Kids team will assist families traveling outside of SW Colorado for acute care and scheduled specialty visits with travel funds for help with gas expenses and short-term hotel stays. We have nearly 6 families every week utilizing the funds.

The kids we support fight big battles every day. Let’s join them in this ride of courage, determination and strength to show them that we support them.

Meet the Brothers Family

We are riding to send a powerful message to families like ours: you are not alone. Our journey with Sweet Pepper quickly led us to Children's Hospital in Denver, right after her birth. Seven weeks in the NICU felt like an eternity, but finally, we made it home, only to begin routine weekly trips back to Denver. Nine consecutive trips so far, and there are many more to go.

The Durango Derailers have been our unexpected guardian angels, providing both financial and emotional lifelines. Knowing that before Pepper was even born, people, strangers, were donating their time and resources to lighten our heavy load is a blessing I can’t put into words. These are the hardest days of our lives. The Durango Derailers have been there with us every step of the way.
