Join Us for a Memorial Day Ceremony at Plaza Park
This Saturday
On Saturday, May 25, we will host a Memorial Day ceremony from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in partnership with the San Gabriel Veterans Memorial Coalition. The event honors the individuals who have served in the military and those who sacrificed their lives for our country. Plaza Park will showcase a "Field of Heroes" displaying 200 flags, paying tribute to our nation's heroes. The Field of Heroes will be open for viewing until Tuesday, May 28.
Please be aware that parking at the Mission Church will not be available during this time.
However, parking will be available at these lots:
- City Hall, 425 S. Mission Drive
- Mission Playhouse, 320 S. Mission Drive
- San Gabriel Unified School District, 408 Junipero Serra Drive

San Gabriel Fire Department's CERT Class Returns;
Sign Up By June 7
The San Gabriel Fire Department is once again offering a free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class on June 14 to 16. This three-day course will equip CERT members with essential skills to respond effectively during emergencies and disasters, especially when first responders are inundated.
The course will include hands-on training and lectures covering topics such as disaster management and preparation, medical operations, triage, search and rescue, and fire safety protocols. By the end of the program, CERT members will have the basic response and organizational skills necessary for sustaining life and protecting property until professional help arrives.
Class location: Fire Station 51 (1303 S Del Mar Ave, San Gabriel)
Class schedule:
- Friday, June 14, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Saturday, June 15, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Sunday, June 16, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Kick-Off Your Summer Festivities with Culture Fest
on June 13
Our Summer in San Gabriel series kicks off with our first Culture Fest on Thursday, June 13 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The celebration will take place in the Historic Mission District. This new event will be a summer kick-off to celebrate the cultural richness in our community and embrace traditions from around the globe. It's a free event that will feature cultural performances, live music, international arts and crafts for kids, and authentic cuisines available for purchase.
There is still time to host a community booth at the event. Interested participants can fill out a Booth Request Form and submit it by May 24.

Art in the Park Registration Begins on May 28
Registration for Art in the Park will begin next Tuesday, May 28. Join our Community Services Department this summer on every Tuesday & Thursday, starting from June 25 and ending on August 1. This exciting arts and crafts program is free to join and will provide a fun and educational experience for participants of all ages.

Learn about the City's Budget on June 1
A public community budget meeting will be held on Saturday, June 1 at the San Gabriel Library's Conference room from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Community members will be able to have an in-depth look at the fiscal year 2024-25 annual budget.
Every year, the city goes through a budget process in which elected officials and staff identify priorities that best serve the San Gabriel community. The city's budget is essentially a business plan outlining the city's services and associated costs. It is a transparent spending plan representing the City Council's priorities and reflecting available revenue, fund balances, and expenditures.

Doughlicious Connect with the SGPD on May 29
The San Gabriel Police Department (SGPD) invites the community to "Doughlicious Connect" on Wednesday, May 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at D’ange Bakery, located at 800 West Las Tunas Dr. #400. There will be no agenda or speeches—just an opportunity for residents to ask questions, voice concerns, and get to know the neighborhood officers.

LA County Rent Relief Program Reopens
The Los Angeles County Rent Relief Program opened its second application round after a successful initial launch. Landlords affected by the COVID-19 pandemic can apply to receive up to $30,000 per rental unit to cover past-due rent and other eligible expenses incurred since April 1, 2022.
The application window will close on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 4:59 p.m.

City Council Meeting - May 21, 2024
