PNE Learning Opportunity

PNE staff had the opportunity last month to learn more about the City of Richmond's history by visiting sites along the Richmond Slave Trail.  Led by the Reverend Benjamin Campbell, the group began at the Richmond Slavery Reconciliation Statue.  Identical statues can also be found in Liverpool, England and the Republic of Benin, completing the triangle that played a prominent role in the slave trade.  These statues symbolize a commitment to new relationships based on honesty and forgiveness.

PNE staff discussed how Richmond's history continues to impact residents today and what role the nonprofit sector plays in addressing current day issues and strengthening communities.  We would welcome a conversation with you about how we can partner together to work towards a more equitable future for all community members.

While you're scheduling vacations, attending local festivals, and having all the Summer fun, remember to get HandsOn! Whether you want to bask in the beautiful weather at a gardening project or escape the heat at an indoor opportunity, you can sign up for volunteer opportunities throughout the Summer.

Sign up with a friend or family member to share the experience!
