Only a few spots remain for CSMSG Vacation Bible Mornings for children ages 4 to 7 on Monday, June 7 and Tuesday, June 8 from 9 to 11:30 am. The theme of the mornings is Godly Play Stories from the Desert. Participants will learn about two stories from the Old Testament, the story of Abraham and Sarah and the Exodus. Mary Beth Tipton, Director of Children’s Education, and Brett Rutledge, Children’s Chapel Leader, will lead children through the stories and provide a number of ways to respond to them through creative activities using painting, craft dough, yarn craft, and interacting with Godly Play manipulatives. The mornings also will include a snack, outdoor play and games, and music/movement activities.
Vacation Bible Mornings will be presented through Godly Play, an approach based on the Montessori principle of responding to the child’s request to "help me do it by myself." This puts the teacher in the role of spiritual supporter or guide who fully accepts that each child has his or her own relationship with God already. Cost is $20 per child and registration is required. Contact Mary Beth Tipton at mtipton@csmsg.org with questions.
