We pray for peace. Let there be peace, O God, for those in need; for those who are frightened, for those who have been displaced, for those who are ill, for those who need work. God of mercy and compassion, of grace and reconciliation, pour your power upon all your children in the Middle East: Jews, Muslims and Christians, Palestinians and Israelis. Let hatred be turned into love, fear to trust, despair to hope, oppression to freedom, occupation to liberation, that violent encounters may be replaced by loving embraces, and peace and justice could be experienced by all. Amen.
We pray for our church community. Creator God, thank you that you are faithful to fulfill all your promises. You have said that you dwell in the hearts of your people through the presence of your Holy Spirit. When your church gathers together, you are in the midst of us. Hear our prayer and strengthen your church, Lord. You are the God of peace. May you sanctify us completely, and may our whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. You, who called us, are faithful to the end. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
We pray for migrant agricultural workers, that they may labor in safe and just conditions, and that we who benefit from their efforts may be truly grateful for what they provide. Amen.
We pray for those affected by disasters and war throughout the world. Holy One, you are our comfort and strength in times of sudden disaster, crisis, or chaos. Surround us now with your grace and peace through storm or earthquake, fire, or flood. By your Spirit, lift up those who have fallen, sustain those who work to rescue or rebuild, and fill us with the hope of your new creation; through you, our rock and redeemer. Amen.
We pray for those who govern our nation and localities, especially Joe Biden, President of the United States; Glenn Youngkin, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia; the Supervisors of Prince Edward, Buckingham, Charlotte, Amelia, Nottoway, and Cumberland counties; and the Mayor and Town Council of Farmville. Amen.
We pray for those in service to our country especially Austin Bailey and Liam Burke (US Army), Sean Burns (USAF), and Caleb Bolick and Zack Fenton (US Marines). Amen.
