John Wu Appointed as Mayor of San Gabriel

Last night, the City Council appointed John Wu as the new Mayor of San Gabriel. This marks Mayor Wu's first term as Mayor since his initial election to the City Council in 2022. As a longtime resident of San Gabriel and a prominent figure in the real estate industry, Wu is deeply committed to fostering strong connections between local businesses and residents. He aims to enhance unity across community sectors and elevate San Gabriel's standing as a hub for business, all while ensuring responsible budget management.

In addition, Denise Menchaca has been appointed as Vice Mayor. As the first Latina elected to the Council in 2017, Vice Mayor Menchaca brings an unwavering dedication to her role in public service. Her priorities include preserving our city's history, ensuring public safety, providing diverse services for residents, improving infrastructure, and maintaining budget efficiency.

The official swearing-in ceremony for John Wu and Denise Menchaca will occur during the upcoming City Council meeting on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. We invite everyone to join us in the Council Chambers to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Following the ceremony, the regular meeting of the San Gabriel City Council will proceed. Community members can attend in person or watch the live stream on the City’s YouTube channel at YouTube.com/CityofSanGabriel.

The city wishes to congratulate Mayor Wu and Vice Mayor Menchaca on their new appointments!
