We are seeking a skilled Acoustic Stringed Instrument Repair Technician to join our acoustic stringed instrument shop outside of Philadelphia, PA. As an Acoustic Stringed Instrument Repair Technician, you will be responsible for performing set ups as well as repairing guitars, banjos, mandolins, violins, ukuleles and other acoustic stringed instruments. Your tasks will involve, but are not limited to, restringing, action adjustments, fret work, installing pick-up systems, installing strap pins, fitting/slotting nuts, fitting saddles, regluing binding, repairing cracks, removing/regluing bridges, and more. You will also interact with customers in-person and/or on the telephone, as needed.
Responsibilities
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Possess sufficient reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
• Ability to pay close attention to details.
• Communicate regularly with staff regarding timelines, work in-progress.
• Possess strong organizational abilities.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Accurately use measuring devices (ruler, micrometer, etc.).
• Safely and effectively operate tools and machinery.
• Be able to stand for long periods.
Qualifications
• Previous experience in instrument repair or building.
• Understanding of acoustic stringed instruments.
Hours (Flexible within hours listed below as long as work is completed in a timely manner)
• Tuesdays - Fridays: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, Saturdays: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
