Thanks be to God

Annette and I cannot begin to thank you for the wonderful farewell party you gave us last Saturday evening. We enjoyed every minute, and we appreciate your well-wishes and generous gifts.

I feel a little like Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians:

I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge— God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you (1 Corinthians 1:4-6, NIV).

If we have, in some small way, helped to enrich you in Christ Jesus, then my time has been well spent. And if you want to further show your gratitude to us, please do so by continuing your support for the ministry of St Francis – with your time, talent, treasure. Above all, please make your presence felt at this great church. It is only as we live and worship together that we experience the fullness of God’s power among us.

God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord (1 Cor 1:9).

Our New Rector - The Reverend Jason Shelby
Sunday February 5 will be his first time leading our worship.
Please welcome him!
Our new Rector will be on his way to us very soon. The Reverend Jason Shelby will be arriving from Mississippi, with his family, at the end of January. Just 4 weeks away!

His very first service at St. Francis will be on Sunday February 5.
We hope as many as possible will be there on that day to welcome the Shelby family, and start the process of getting to know each other.

In the meantime, please hold them in your prayers as they negotiate the challenges of a long distance move and transition to a new Parish.
Are you ready to get together with the SAGES*?!?
Tuesday January 17, 11:30 am, Parish Hall
Kick off your new year with some fun and friendship. Enjoy social time, a simple lunch and a guest speaker. We are pleased to be able to have Monique Sugimoto, from the PV library district. She will speak to us about “Doors Open Peninsula”, a program coming up in the spring. Come hear what it will include and how you might become part of it. To help with preparing the lunch, please email or call Claire in the church office (310 375 4617), if you can attend. All welcome - bring a friend. :)
Thank you and can't wait to see you!

Taizé - Service of Healing and Wholeness
Tuesday January 24, 7:00 p.m.
Join us in the Chapel for a peaceful time filled with music and candlelight. If you're not familiar with this tradition, the community of Taizé, in France, is the location of a teaching and contemplative retreat center that attracts thousands of believers from all over the world.

Our service of Wholeness and Healing emulates the style of the chant services at Taizé, with music from Taizé and other contemplative sources. We sing short phrases repeatedly to quiet our minds and hearts and open our souls to being in the presence of God. Join in as you wish. You also have the option for confidential prayer with a Prayer team leader. We pray that the time will be a healing comfort for whatever you face or hold in your heart.
