Little free library in Garden District |
The recent proposals for neighborhood improvements were presented for review at the quarterly meeting. The idea of a
little free library
was high on the list. To make that happen the neighborhood has to have a space, a monitor, and a carpenter. Can you donate a space on the edge of your property? We may have a carpenter.
The next most interest was raised by the proposal for
Neighborhood Entrance signs. A committee already exists and will be presenting their ideas at an upcoming JPNA meeting.
Three people volunteered to help with transporting Seniors in the
Lend a Hand Program. And the
tree planting committee has two new volunteers.
Neighborhood volunteers can make this a great neighborhood.

T-shirts and Treasures Fundraiser Gains Funds for Projects
|
Additionally, we thank the International School for hosting and Klem for helping with arrangements.
The Jefferson Park Neighborhood "treasures" sale garnered $352 for Jefferson Park.

The JPNA association requested that the city-owned parcels along Grant Road be cleaned of weeds. The mayor himself responded and asked TDOT to get a crew out to clean the area. Thank you mayor and TDOT!
The city has a contract with The Groundskeeper to clean the weeds along Campbell and along the access road. The groundskeeper came out in October and cleaned some of Campbell on the west side. According to the city, they did not have time to do the access road, but are returning in November to do so.
Mountain Sidewalks
Neighbors reported the bushes growing over the sidewalks along Mountain. The city sent the Groundskeep out to cut them back.

Green committee will come plant trees on the "right of way" by your house. Call Joan Hall , 990-8054,

High Heat,Dry Heat:
The committee urges neighbors to water their trees especially the fruit trees. It may feel cooler but the trees are dry.

Grant Road Construction Up-Date
|
The
following information was shared by Beth Abramovitz, Project manager for Grant Road at a meeting 10/17/2016
for construction on the roadway from First to Santa Rita will be January 2017. Curbs will go up first on the south side with traffic diverted to the north.
After the south side is completed construction moves to the north side.
ANTICIPATED COMPLETION*

July/August 2017
the entire roadway (First to Santa Rita) will be complete and the basin landscaping will be completed. T
he intersection of Park and Grant will be completed.
PARTIAL CLOSURE OF HAMPTON - will be completed with the basin.
*Per Ms Abramovitz: It is possible these dates could be delayed by the contractor. These are anticipated dates. And the contractors might still be working after these completion dates.

Our "Neighbor" Mountain/First having a Fest
|

Saturday November 5, 3-6PM
Where? South of Glenn, west of Mountain, north of Silver, east of Park.
Front porches all over the Mountain & First neighborhood will come alive with live music! This will be Tucson's eighth Porch Fest; they just get better and better.
In addition to live music we will have a kids porch with a puppet show; an art open-house showcasing several artists; and a live sketching porch, with a model, hosted by The Drawing Studio.
This is a leave-no-trace event. Please pack all your trash and bring your own re-usable water bottle!
Expect a great mix of well-known local musicians and other talent surfacing to the porch for debut performances!
There WILL be food trucks!

City seeking volunteers for citizen advisory committee
|
The City of Tucson is accepting applications from city residents interested in serving voluntarily on the Environmental Services Advisory Committee (ESAC). The committee was established to serve in an advisory role to the Mayor and City Council regarding the planning, design, and implementation of services and programs administered through Environmental Services. These services include refuse collection and disposal, environmental cleanup, code enforcement, and environmental protection. ESAC represents citizen's interests while helping the City to ensure Tucson is an environmentally safe, clean community.
The committee is seeking applicants who represent the diversity of the City of Tucson. City residents with experience and expertise in finance, environmental management or those who represent city neighborhoods and businesses are encouraged to apply. The committee meets monthly for approximately one hour. Additionally, committee members are expected to serve on subcommittees or participate in other activities in support of the committee's mission.
If you are interested in serving on the Environmental Services Advisory Committee, please submit a letter that includes a statement of interest and applicable professional experience, special skills or expertise. Letters should be received by November 18, 2016 and sent to:
