Magnet Schools Go to Washington: Will you be there?
Click here to join your fellow magnet school educators as they descend on Washington, DC February 6-8 for the MSA Policy Conference! Hear as some of the nation's leading experts discuss issues in education and diversity from the vantage point of urban education, student assessment, and more. Then hear firsthand how school district leaders are innovating in establishing a climate of equity and inclusion. Finally, cap off your time in Washington with a visit to your Member of Congress. When it comes to educating and engaging policymakers, there is no substitute for a personal story from a constituent; that's why we need you to share your experience with the power and potential of magnet schools.

The event of the year for magnet schools, that is. MSA's annual conference is just a few months away: April 10-13 in Baltimore, MD. Register now to join more than 1,000 magnet educators--including teachers, principals, district administrators and more. The three-day agenda is packed with incredible keynote speakers and sessions on today's most pressing issues in education.

February is the time to show some love--not just with chocolates, but by celebrating Magnet School Month. Help get the word out about all there is to love about magnet schools, especially all they do to spark educational innovation and student success. So ask your students, teachers, principals or administrators to get creative, take a photo you can post to Twitter and tag us @MagnetSchlsMSA

If you can't make it to DC for our Policy Conference, Magnet School Month is also a great opportunity to bring your Congressional leaders to you! Click  here for ideas on inviting your elected representatives to see your school in action and help them learn about the innovations happening in their own backyard.

Find money for your magnet!
Have you bookmarked the MSA's grants and funding page ? We continually update the site with the latest opportunities, including application deadlines. Right now, we're spreading the word about American Electric Power's $500 mini-grants for K-12 teachers with projects in math, science and technology, with a special focus on energy efficiency and the environment (deadline February 22, 2019).

What do acclaimed anthropologist who does field work in Brazil, a Coca-Cola executive, a first-round NFL draft pick and an immigration lawyer cited by the New York Times have in common? They're all alumni of Charlotte, NC's Piedmont Middle School. With an award-winning curriculum, Piedmont students  study eight subject areas and learn at least two languages as part of its International Baccalaureate program and commitment to multilingualism.
