Project of the Month Workshop using a Grid System

Happy New Year everyone! I am looking forward to serving you as the 2024 guild president! This year went so quickly and we thank David and his board for such a great year. Speaking of the new year, I have planned a fun year for our guild. Judy Ballance is kicking off the new year at our January guild meeting and talking about how to make your quilts your very own.

In February, we have a national speaker Carmen Geddes with TenSisters Handicraft in Utah coming to do a trunk show at our guild meeting. On Friday, there will be a workshop using her grid piecing system to make a table runner and/or you can choose to do pin cushions. Don’t you always wonder how people get a tiny 1/2”-1” squares to match so perfectly? Come to February’s workshop and guild meeting and see. (Registration is available online - ADD LINK?) - Normal registration fee. (There will be an additional kit fee for the table runner of $10 and $5 for the Pincushion payable directly to the teacher.)

In March, we will be doing something TOTALLY different. Our sister guild, Heritage Quilters of Huntsville, has invited us to participate in a special reception and preview night for the 2024 Fanfare Quilt Show. We will start off with a brief business meeting and then join in on the reception. You will need to purchase a $5 entrance ticket (gets you into the show Friday and Saturday as well) to be able to attend the preview night/reception. They will be available to purchase at our January and February meetings. Regular price is $10.

Here’s a list of the upcoming 2024 events:

April - Intro of our Challenge with Keri Rieger and Sherri Cahill is our guest speaker

May - More challenge details and Q&A session with Keril and another guest speaker, Barbara Carlson

June - Indoor Rummage Sale

July - Special Guest, Audra Kennedy

August, Award Winning National Speaker and Teacher, Cynthia England with englanddesigns.com

September - Speaker, Elaine Poplin

October - Potential fundraiser or Speaker TBD

November - Challenge Reveal

December - Christmas Party

Lastly, I hope you all have been thinking about what you could make or donate for the MSQ booth at the Fanfare Quilt Show. Plan on attending the special sew day January 13th.

See you soon!
