Orem is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. We are fortunate to live in this beautiful city.
The Mayor and City Council hosted a Christmas party for all of the city employees a few weeks ago. Nathan Osmond was the featured guest. Nathan is a great entertainer! He had many Orem employees from various departments singing along with him, and he even had some first responders showing their dance moves. Nathan ended his performance with a reminder of why we are celebrating Christmas as he invited the employees to join in singing “Silent Night.” It was a beautiful event for all. This was such a fun way to celebrate the Christmas season and to let the city employees know how much they are valued.
We are grateful to be able to embrace the New Year 2023, I have been reading a book about Benjamin Franklin. He was a man of wisdom. I will include some advice he valued as we make personal goals for the future.
- “Instead of cursing the darkness, light a candle.”
- “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.”
- “We do not stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stopped playing.”
- “Honesty is the best policy.”
- “When you are good to others, you are good to yourself.”
- “Wish not so much to live long as to live well.”
- “Do not squander time, for that is the thing life is made of.”
I hope that we can learn from Benjamin Franklin’s time-tested advice and make 2023 a wonderful New Year.
I am excited to begin a new year, and I look forward to all the wonderful things we can accomplish as a city.
