WELCOME- Elizabeth Matzel and Julia Chambers

to the AEDC TEAM

Elizabeth Matzel is our Business Development Coordinator, a newly developed position to continue growth and sustainability of AEDC and to further key partnerships.

She received her BS in business administration with a management concentration from Northern Vermont University as well as a small business certification.

Julia Chambers is the Projects and Grants Coordinator for the Adirondack Economic Development Corporation Chambers brings over 10 years of experience in administrative coordination, including event management, budgeting and financial tracking. She earned a BA in political science from the University of Rochester.

AEDC Opens Satellite Office in Saratoga Springs

AEDC opened a new satellite office in the old Van Roalte Knitting Mill that has been converted to a professional office building on Rock Avenue in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

We are so excited to further our work in the Saratoga area.

Bookburgh Books Celebrates 5th Anniversary

Bookburgh Books Store is celebrating its fifth anniversary in the North Country!!

Charles Loscalzo, owner of BookburgBooks bookstore at the Champlain Center Mall in Plattsburgh, NY celebrated its fifth anniversary on October 8th, 2022. AEDC provided small business loans and technical assistance from the start of the project.

We are proud to award Charles a 5th-anniversary recognition of his service, motivation, inspiration, and dedication as a small business owner in the North Country.

Bookburgh Bookstore is an independent community bookstore located in northern New York.

They feature a wide variety of new, used and bargain books, as well as gift items, maps and accessories.

All materials are also available online.

Their art gallery showcases the work of local artists, and feature a large selection of books by local authors. Their local/regional/Adirondacks collection is one of the best in the area!!!!

Simpli Nature- Lake Placid

In January, Lake Placid hosted the spectacular 2023 FISU World University Games.

SimpliNature, an AEDC client, celebrated this event with" FISU Soy Lotion Candles" made in Lake Placid. The scent of the Adirondack Balsam Fir and Balsam Cedar will remind people of this event and its' theme "Save Winter".

Big Results for Clients through Pandemic Small Business Development Grant

AEDC participated in New York State's Small Business Pandemic Program in 2021/2022 and worked with over 700 clients who received more than $7.7million in funding assistance through state and federal pandemic resources.

AEDC conducted 18 training classes during this time and worked with clients who submitted more than 250 financial assistance applications. Our team was happy to help connect struggling small businesses to resources at scale.
