A Few Words from Our MASWA President
A New Year always brings new possibilities…if we let it! How many times have we heard the dismissal of 2020? As the sand apparently kept slowly crawling through the hour glass, we probably wondered if we would ever see 2021. Now that it is here, let’s draw our attention to what is “good” about life and the days ahead of us!

Growing up, it was fun to watch Winnie the Pooh and the adventures with his friends. Growing up, we probably never really thought about all the wonderful things Pooh Bear (what I called him) taught us. We never really realized what a compliment his “sayings” would be to those words of wisdom from our parents. Pooh Bear taught us a lot. Did you know that January 18 is known as Winnie the Pooh Day? As we take flight into a New Year and a new set of adventures, let’s take a look at some of the wisdom from a well-liked Bear! We may be able to use some of that wisdom to help us kick off a great year for us! These are just a few of his quotes:

“Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

“How you make others feel says a lot about who you are.”

“To become a butterfly you must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.”

“Your smile is a reason for many others to smile.”

“When life throws you a rainy day, play in the puddles.”

“Always remember to forget the troubles that passed away but never forget to remember the blessings that come each day.”

May these simple quotes from a long-time “friend” remind us that the simple things in life can make a profound impact. May you brace your shoulders, hold your head up high and know that in the words of Winnie the Pooh, “Life is a journey to be experienced, not a problem to be solved.” Let’s have at it! Let’s embrace this New Year with hope, wonder and continued fortitude! Thanks so much for what you do. Happy New Year, 2021!
