Annual Spring Art Show
GALA’s Annual Spring Art Show will be located at the
Red Apple Farm in Phillipston
MAY 21 – 23, 2021

GALA has collaborated with the Red Apple Farm and we will be having our Annual Spring Show in the Brew Barn. We are very excited to try something new with the owners of the Red Apple Farm and neighbors at Moon Hill Brewing Co. Their post and beam Country Barn is transformed into the Brew Barn on weekends, serving up their own Red Apple Farm hard cider, local brews, fresh roasted nuts, and popped-on-the-spot popcorn along with your farm favorites. A day at the Brew Barn will include our largest art show of the year, live music, raffles, auctions, brew, outdoor picnic tables with old fashioned family fun, and a patio overlooking the orchard.

Rebecca McGee Tuck: Along the Wrack Line
Winner of the Present Tense Prize

Rebecca McGee Tuck weaves a sculptural narrative using sea debris she collects along the Massachusetts shoreline. "The work created for Along the Wrack Line raises awareness to the constant misuse of the ocean’s ecosystem," says Tuck. "I transform pieces of marine debris into works of art and symbols of hope, calling attention to the consequences of polluting our oceans."

The Present Tense Prize, awarding a solo exhibition and a $1,000 award, recognizes an artist whose work exemplifies new practices, artistic risk-taking, and excellence in execution.

Through February 14, 2021

Artist to Artist: Past is Prologue
Mount Wachusett Community College, Gardner, MA
A conversation with artists Nafis M. White and Toby Sisson

Sunday, January 10, 2021, 6:30 - 7:30 PM

Join artists Nafis M. White and Toby Sisson in a focused conversation about the value of Black art and artists, especially in the midst of multiple pandemics — public health, economic inequality, and the ongoing fight for racial justice. In what ways do Black artists overcome oppression to inspire beauty and joy? What does it mean for Black artists to create value and to be given their due? How should society celebrate Black creativity for a more just and inclusive world?

Artist to Artist: Past is Prologue is the second in a four-part speaker series hosted by ArtsWorcester intended to amplify Black voices in contemporary art, broadening understandings of Black art history, visual vocabularies, and experiences within the visual art industry.

This conversation will take place on Zoom. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. This event will also livestream on Facebook Live.

Inside Voices: A Members' Exhibition
in partnership with the Fitchburg Art Museum

Registration deadline: February 26, 2021

At a moment when we’re all being asked to stay inside, interior spaces have become heightened reflective zones. Inside Voices prompts artists to consider a wide range of interiors, including domestic environments, psychological subjectivity, bodies, architecture, and sculptural containment. These spaces reveal symbolic weight, mental and emotional states, fantasy worlds, gender roles, and personal memories. We invite you to turn inward and explore these interior spaces for their potential energy and revelatory power.

The Fitchburg Art Museum’s curatorial staff will select ten works from Inside Voices to be exhibited at FAM with the selected works from the Museum’s collection.
