Where is winter?

What a change from last year! Winter activities are on hold, but when conditions improve, stop and see us! Louie's has what you need for a day on the trails or ice.

Recipe: Sleigh Ride Chowder

A creamy & rich recipe to warm up with after your winter adventures.

Ingredients for 6 servings

1 lb. Potatoes, peeled and cubed

1 cup Water

8 strips Louie's Bacon

1 medium Onion, chopped

1 rib Celery, chopped

1 (10.75 oz.) can condensed Cream of Chicken Soup, undiluted

1.75 cups whole Milk

1 cup Sour Cream

1/2 tsp Salt

Pepper, to taste

1 tbsp minced Parsley


  • Place the potatoes in a small saucepan and cover with the water. Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat, cover, and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 10-15 minutes.
  • While the potatoes are cooking, cook the bacon in a large skillet until crispy (about 6-8 minutes). Transfer the bacon to a paper towel to drain and cool.
  • In the same skillet, saute the onions and celery in the bacon grease until tender. Drain the excess grease.
  • Add the onion and celery mixture to the undrained potatoes.
  • Stir the cream of chicken soup, milk, sour cream, salt, and pepper into the potato mixture and cook over low heat until heated through, about 10 minutes. Do not bring to a boil.
  • Crumble the bacon and set aside 1/4 cup. Add the remaining bacon and the parsley to the soup.
  • Ladle into bowls and sprinkle the the bacon you saved.
  • Serve.
