In the tradition of celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday as “A Day On, not a Day Off,” Howard County's Office of Human Rights & Equity has planned a variety of service activities for all ages that offer the community the opportunity to participate in honoring the civil rights leader’s legacy through education, engagement, and service.
On Sunday, January 14, a special reception and celebration will take place at Howard Community College's Horowitz Center - click here for details and to register.
MLK's Day of Service 2024 follows on Monday, January 15, at the Harriet Tubman Cultural Center, 8045 Harriet Tubman Lane, Columbia, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. [two shifts 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.*; 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.]
{*a select number of folks are needed from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. to help with breakfast set-up}
Click here for a listing of planned activities. Members are asked to please email Karen Bryant to indicate their particular areas of interest, ideally by Friday, January 5, but no later than Tuesday, January 9.
