Spotlight for the Seraphs

The St. Bonaventure football team was recognized at the February 13 Council Meeting for their recent season, where they secured a 12-4 overall record for 2023.


This past September, the Seraphs took home the CIF Division 3 Champions title in a dramatic win for the first time in 15. We look forward to seeing them and all our local athletes gear up for another exciting season this fall!

Bringing home the bronze

We received our latest recognition as a bronze-rated community from the League of American Bicyclists! The Bicycle Friendly America awards program spotlights our long-time goal of building a network to make our community more accessible by bike for residents and visitors alike.


Today, we’re proud to be part of the 480 communities across the United States that are transforming America, one bicycle-friendly community at a time.

Join the Measure O Committee

Help guide the spending of over $21 million to address our more than 150-year-old infrastructure and help maintain public safety. We're seeking residents to join our Measure O Citizens Oversight Committee. The committee reviews revenues and advises the City Council on spending Measure O funds.

January property crime report

A reminder from your Ventura Police Department to secure belongings, be observant, and report suspicious activity to VPD's non-emergency line at 805-650-8010.


Last month, these property crimes were reported: 51 personal property thefts, 46 vehicle burglaries or thefts, 12 stolen vehicles, 7 residential burglaries, 17 commercial burglaries, and 3 robberies. For details, visit the interactive map at CityofVentura.ca.gov/CrimeMap.

Beware of invasive pests in produce

Our agriculture faces threats from two invasive pests: the Asian Citrus Psyllid, which carries Huanglongbing disease, and the Queensland fruit fly, which contaminates our crops.


Help #SaveOurFood by following quarantine rules, avoid sharing homegrown produce, and report suspect trees to the California Department of Food and Agriculture hotline at 1-800-491-1899.

EVENTS & PROGRAMS

Wildfire Town Hall on March 7

Participate in a free, public town hall hosted by the Ventura Fire Department on Thursday, March 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. to discuss wildfire preparedness.


Held in the Community Meeting Room in City Hall, at 501 Poli Street, the town hall will feature topics including wildfire risk, defensible space and home hardening tips, wildfire home insurance, and more.

Grant opportunities for nonprofits

There are two exciting grants available to local nonprofits. The Cultural Funding Grant awards $90,000 to eligible nonprofit arts and cultural groups, and the Community Partnerships Grant awards $140,000 to eligible nonprofit social and environmental groups.
