January closing date for 2017 payroll

The December 2017 wage report is due no later than January 10, 2018. Submitting the final 2017 wage report and any adjustments by January 10 will allow IMRF to include the information in the 2017 Member Statements of Account. Employers should also resolve any outstanding suspended wages by January 10, 2018.

For more timely submissions, Authorized Agents should log in to Employer Access and utilize IMRF's Employer Access Web Wage Reporting. This provides IMRF employers an accurate way to report member wages and contributions to IMRF.

Wage reports and any adjustments received after January 10, 2018, may not appear in the 2017 Member Statements of Account and the employer's GASB statements. Reporting may be delayed until the 2018 Member Statements and the employer's GASB statements, which will be distributed in early 2019.

Fourth Quarter Employer Survey scheduled for release

IMRF will release its Fourth Quarter Employer Survey on Monday, January 8. The survey will be distributed via email to all Authorized Agents and Web Assistants, and should take less than five minutes to complete.

Upon receipt, all Authorized Agents and Web Assistants are encouraged to complete and return the survey to IMRF no later than Monday, January 22, 2018. Your participation and comments will help IMRF continue its mission to provide the highest quality retirement services to our employers and members.

Board Meeting Highlights

At the December 17, 2017, Board Meeting, the Board:

Certified Executive Trustee election results
Appointed 2018 Board officers
Decided to maintain the current 7.5% investment return assumption

The next regularly scheduled Board meeting will be held Friday, February 23, 2018, at IMRF's Oak Brook office.

In 2018, IMRF employers will receive six key documents:

Employer Copies of Member Statements
Preliminary Rate Notice
GASB 50 Footnote Disclosure
GASB 68 Reports
Final Rate Notice

These documents will be located in the "Display Annual Documents" section in Employer Access, and will detail your employer's pension assets, liabilities, and contribution rate.

Employers may review the 2018 document release schedule and learn more about each document in the December 2017 Employer Reminder.
