January 2024 Shark News

We want to extend a warm welcome to our new Director of Community Engagement at Siembra, Edward Ramirez. A word from Mr. Ramirez and his vision for what the next year will bring for our students:

Embarking on a rich 14-year educational journey, I commenced my career as a third-grade teacher in Alamo, New Mexico, a remote reservation nestled 140 miles Southeast of Albuquerque. This initial experience ignited a passion for transformative education that has shaped my trajectory ever since. Following a year in the classroom, I assumed a pivotal role within the school's leadership team, collaborating under the aegis of the Department of Education. Guided by this commitment, I spearheaded the implementation of the "Children's Guild" initiative, a non-profit organization dedicated to Educational Reform for students in Special Education and those navigating challenges in conventional educational settings.

Throughout this transformative period, my steadfast partner and wife of 10 years, alongside our two cherished daughters, have been pillars of support and inspiration. Their unwavering encouragement has fueled my dedication to the field of education and community engagement.

Now, as I embrace the role of Director of Community Engagement for Siembra Leadership High School, my vision expands beyond the confines of the classroom. I envision a collaborative and inclusive learning environment, where community partnerships thrive, and students are empowered holistically. Drawing on my extensive background, including six years with New Mexico State University's Mathematically Connected Communities, where I worked with 16 diverse school districts, and my executive training through the National Institute of School Leadership, I bring a wealth of experience in educational research, district-wide goal setting, and strategic thinking.

My commitment extends beyond professional realms; it intertwines with a personal dedication to enriching the lives of my own family and those within the school community. Together, with the support of my wife and daughters, I eagerly embark on this new chapter at Siembra Leadership High School, driven by a profound belief in the transformative power of education and community engagement.

Winter Market Triumph: A Resounding Success!

Siembra recently hosted a spectacular event, our first annual Winter Market, where the entrepreneurial spirit of our 11th and 12th Grade Capstone students truly shone. These talented students proudly presented their businesses, showcased their products, and treated attendees to a delightful display of musical talents. We are thrilled to announce that our budding entrepreneurs collectively earned over $2000 in profits. This is just the beginning of what promises to be a flourishing tradition at Siembra. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and showed overwhelming support for our students and their ventures! 🌟🛍️🎶

Siembra's Sisterhood Flourishes: A Heartwarming Week of Bonding, Learning, and Self-Care

Siembra's Sisterhood blossomed as our amazing young women embarked on a memorable journey. Creating lasting connections, they initiated a club that fosters support and unity—Siembra's Sisterhood. In December, these ladies had the privilege of visiting a retirement home, engaging in meaningful conversations with the elderly, and gaining invaluable insights. They indulged in delicious food, enjoyed a stay at a beautiful hotel, and immersed themselves in self-care activities. It was a heartwarming experience that not only strengthened bonds but also highlighted the power of learning from one another.
