Welcome to 2024! It’s hard to believe we’ve completed another orbit around the sun.
So many of us use this time of year to start anew and establish fresh goals for ourselves. These “resolutions” don’t often last past January 31st, and many only end up serving as nagging reminders of things we’ll never cross off our to-do list. Were they too lofty, too ambitious, or too unattainable? Perhaps. Or, maybe, they just weren’t the right resolutions for you. You know yourself better than anyone. If you’re going to change something about yourself or your life, make sure you’re making those changes for YOU & no one else. Make sure the underlying goal of any resolution is to bring your inner self a slice of peace.
With that in mind, I’d like to offer some words of wisdom that I’ve found in the massive expanse that is the internet & have tried to apply to my own life. Hopefully, some of these nuggets will resonate with you & become a part of where you’d like to see yourself at the end of 2024.
- Don’t ever judge anyone on how they handle a pain you’ve never felt.
- Honor your boundaries. You can’t be everything to everyone and nothing to yourself.
- Never forget that walking away from something unhealthy is brave, even if you stumble a little on your way out of the door.
- A thousand apologies bear no weight without changed behavior.
- Don’t let how you feel make you forget what you deserve.
- If you went back and fixed all the mistakes you’ve made, you would erase yourself.
- Understand the difference between patience and wasting your time.
- Release yourself from the versions of you that you created just to survive.
- Time decides who you meet in life, your heart decides who you want in your life, and your behavior decides who stays in your life.
The last nugget of wisdom I offer is from me: Don’t forget that real change takes time, so be gentle with yourself.
Respectfully,

Bridgewater Modern Grill (Member Firm Benson's Restaurant Group)
The November 2023 membership meeting was held at Bridgewater Modern Grill (Benson's Restaurant Group) starting with networking and appetizers. Dinner options included three delicious choices and an array of sweet treats. Ginny provided a review of the RaiseRight Fundraising Program, Tina reviewed the New Member Process, and Kimberly introduced our guest speaker for the evening, Dr. Dana Hammond of Connect Chiropractic (member firm). Dr. Hammond's presentation was interesting and informative. Who knew that infants could benefit from chiropractic treatment?! A warm welcome to new member firm, Just Between Friends. So thankful for this amazing group of professional women.

Bass Bay Brewhouse
The annual holiday meeting and celebration was held at the Bass Bay Brewhouse. Chapter President Laura Poll gave the invocation. Networking and dinner were enjoyed by all. Special guests from the US Marine Corp, Sgt. Brian Johnson and Lance Corporal David Gonzales, presented information and answered questions about the Toys for Tots program and accepted our donations of toys and games. They also joined us for a round of Christmas Movie Trivia.

Komatsu
Original meeting to ring in 2024 was delayed due to the first major storm of the winter. For the safety of all involved, the date was changed from the 9th to the 16th. It was well worth the wait to see the AMAZING facility at Komatsu. After opening remarks and an Irish Blessing presented by Kimberly Wolverton as our invocation, we dined on a Taco Bar, always a fan favorite with this group. Next up was a tour of the Komatsu facility. We only wish we could have gotten a picture of us all in our PPE. We finished the evening with a United Way philanthropy project. Thank you to the chapter members and member firm, Generation Growth Capital, for donating items for the project.

We have a 2024 Milwaukee Business Journal 40 under 40 award winner in the office. Rebecca Gries, Vice President of Corporate Attraction and Expansion for M7 (member firm), was named as a recipient of this award in a story on the Business Journal's website today.
Each year, Milwaukee Business Journal reporters and editors select 40 leaders under the age of 40 — from a pool of hundreds of nominations — who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement while also becoming leaders in their communities. This 40 Under 40 class represents the future of community leadership in southeastern Wisconsin.
Since joining M7 in 2018, Rebecca has played an integral role in promoting economic development in the region, helping many businesses expand their footprint or move here.
