A Message from
Mayor John Gunter
Greetings, Cape Coral community members.
Happy New Year to you all! As we embark on 2024, I am thrilled to share that Cape Coral continues to thrive, and our focus remains steadfast on our mission to provide services and resources that enhance the quality of life for those who live, learn, work, and play in our City.
This month holds significant events, notably the official opening of the Caloosahatchee Connect pipeline, which will provide up to 12 million gallons of reclaimed water daily from Fort Myers to Cape Coral. This project provides additional irrigation water for residents for lawn watering and eliminates nutrient discharges into the river by the City of Fort Myers.
Also, in January, the City will host budget workshops. These workshops are crucial for future planning...Read more from the Mayor-->

Caloosahatchee Connect Ribbon-Cutting Set for Thursday, January 11
The City of Cape Coral and the City of Fort Myers entered an interlocal agreement in 2018 to construct a pipeline across the Caloosahatchee River to transmit reclaimed water from Fort Myers to Cape Coral. The project is about to come to fruition, with a public ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, at Horton Park (2600 SE 26th Place).
The pipeline will provide reclaimed water to Cape Coral to help maintain freshwater canal levels during the dry season for lawn irrigation and fire protection purposes while reducing discharges into the river. Using horizontal directional drilling, the pipeline was installed over the past few months with no disturbance to the river bottom, avoiding environmental impacts.
Notably, this 7,600-foot-long reclaimed water transmission main is now the largest and longest subaqueous horizontal directional drill project using fusible polyvinyl chloride pipe (FPVC) in the United States.

Please follow the City's watering schedule and adhere to watering restrictions for your area.

The City of Cape Coral is working to develop its first Multimodal Transportation Master Plan with a 20-year horizon, and we need your help!
The Master Plan will result in a list of implementable transportation projects that support people of all ages and abilities. It will update the long-term vision for the City’s multimodal transportation system, provide policy direction, and guide the implementation of transportation projects throughout the City during the short- mid- and long-term timeframes.
The second public workshop for this project will be held in Council Chambers on Thursday, January 25, at 4 p.m.
In addition to attending the workshop, residents can provide input by clicking on the button below to participate in a public survey through February 8. They can also view a new, interactive map that shows existing pedestrian paths, multi-use trails, the bicycle network, and all improvements proposed by the Multimodal Master Plan, then use the "Add Point" function to leave a comment or suggest a need.

Fire Department Hosts Most Successful Toy Drive to Date
The Cape Coral Fire Department would like to thank the community for making the Annual Toy Drive the most successful ever! Initially, requests were high, and donations were low. However, when individuals and businesses learned of this discrepancy, they acted quickly.
Thanks to their generosity, almost 1100 children received toys and gifts, the most assistance the Cape Coral Fire Department has ever been able to provide through the Toy Drive. Thank you to everyone who donated! Because of your generosity, recipients of the Toy Drive were gifted with multiple presents and were so grateful for the happy holidays this allowed them to have.
